Prenatal attachment in women subjected to fetal echocardiography

2012

ackground The experience of fetal echocardiography (as advanced level screening, usually done between 19th and 23rd week of gestation) is a complex psychological condition for mothers. It can influences the relationship they structure with themselves and their future children. Sometimes this examination can result in a diagnosis of fetal congenital heart disease. This event could be critical for the psychological representation of the child, made by mother, pushing her to an emotional blockage or hyper involvement (Righetti, Di Bernardo, Maggino, 2008) . In continuity with specific studies on this topic (ibidem), this research study investigates the configuration of prenatal attachment bond…

C7 is expressed on endothelial cells as a trap for the assembling terminal complement complex and may exert anti-inflammatory function.

2009

AbstractWe describe a novel localization of C7 as a membrane-bound molecule on endothelial cells (ECs). Data obtained by sodium dodecyl sulfate–polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE), Western blot analysis, Northern blot analysis, and mass spectrometry revealed that membrane-associated C7 (mC7) was indistinguishable from soluble C7 and was associated with vimentin on the cell surface. mC7 interacted with the other late complement components to form membrane-bound TCC (mTCC). Unlike the soluble SC5b-9, mTCC failed to stimulate ECs to express adhesion molecules, to secrete IL-8, and to induce albumin leakage through a monolayer of ECs, and more importantly protected ECs from the proinf…

Domain Generation Algorithm Detection Using Machine Learning Methods

2018

A botnet is a network of private computers infected with malicious software and controlled as a group without the knowledge of the owners. Botnets are used by cybercriminals for various malicious activities, such as stealing sensitive data, sending spam, launching Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks, etc. A Command and Control (C&C) server sends commands to the compromised hosts to execute those malicious activities. In order to avoid detection, recent botnets such as Conficker, Zeus, and Cryptolocker apply a technique called Domain-Fluxing or Domain Name Generation Algorithms (DGA), in which the infected bot periodically generates and tries to resolve a large number of pseudorando…

SOPHO-NET – Forschungsverbund zur Psychotherapie der Sozialen Phobie

2009

This paper presents the Social Phobia Psychotherapy Research Network (SOPHO-NET). SOPHO-NET is among the five research networks on psychotherapy funded by "Bundesministerium fur Bildung und Forschung". The research program encompasses a coordinated group of studies of social phobia. In the central project (Study A), a multi-center randomized controlled trial, refined models of manualized cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and manualized short-term psychodynamic psychotherapy (STPP) are compared in the treatment of social phobia. A sample of n=512 outpatients will be randomized to either CBT, STPP or wait list. For quality assurance and treatment integrity, a specific project has been establ…

Assessing mentalization in psychotherapy: first validation of the Mentalization Imbalances Scale

2018

The aim of this study was to provide data on the preliminary validation of a clinician-report multidimensional assessment measure of mentalization (Mentalization Imbalances Scale, MIS). A random national sample of psychotherapists (N=190) completed the MIS to identify mentalization imbalances, and the Personality Disorder Checklist to assess the personality disorders (PDs) of randomly selected patients currently in their care. Factor analysis confirmed the presence of six factors that represented different imbalances of mentalization: cognitive, affective, automatic, external, imbalance toward others, and imbalance toward self. We found several significant relationships between patients’ me…

Long-term performance of the bovine pericardium patch in conventional carotid endarterectomy.

2014

Objective The aim of the study was to analyze long-term results of carotid endarterectomy (CEA) using bovine pericardium patch. Patients and Methods This study is a retrospective analysis of 274 consecutive cases (173 in CEA group and 101 patients in an internal control group of eversion endarterectomy [EEA]) operated between January 2005 and May 2007. Operations were performed according to standard surgical technique. Primary endpoints of the study were 30-day mortality, ipsilateral neurologic event rate, and high-grade restenosis in the long-term follow-up. Results No statistically significance between both groups was found in terms of gender, age, risk factors, medication (statine, plate…

Incidence and prognostic factors related to major adverse cerebrovascular events in patients with complex aortic diseases treated by the chimney tech…

2018

Abstract Objective Endovascular aneurysm repair (EVAR) with the chimney technique (ch-EVAR) has been used for the treatment of aortic aneurysms as an alternative approach to fenestrated endografting or open repair. Nonetheless, the need for an upper extremity arterial access may contribute to a higher risk for periprocedural cerebrovascular events. This study reports on the perioperative cerebral and major adverse cardiac and cerebrovascular events (MACCE) after ch-EVAR. Methods The PERICLES registry (PERformance of the chImney technique for the treatment of Complex aortic pathoLogiES) is an international, retrospective multicenter study evaluating the performance of ch-EVAR for the treatme…

The role of self-compassion in the relationship between attachment, depression, and quality of life.

2019

Abstract Background Self-compassion may be shaped by early attachment experiences, and has been linked to mental health and well-being. This study examined the role of two distinct features of self-compassion, self-warmth and self-coldness, in the relationship between attachment insecurity and depression as well as quality of life in a general population sample in Germany. Methods Participants (N = 2,253; 53.4% female, Mage 50 years) completed the Self-Compassion Scale (SCS), Adult Attachment Scale (AAS), Beck Depression Inventory-Fast Screen (BDI-FS), and European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire (EORTC QLQ-C30). Mediation analysis was used to…

Supporting parenting of infants: evaluating outcomes for parents and children in a community-based program.

2012

This research presents an evaluation of the intervention dose-effect of the Parent-Child Psychological Support Program (PCPS). The PCPS is a universal community-based program to support parenting, during the first 18 months, and to promote protective adaptive systems in children through a schedule of quarterly office-based appointments, starting at 3 months of age. Generally children attend for six visits. When the Program opens in a particular area, parents of all children under 18 months are invited. The different ages of the children who are joining present a unique opportunity to obtain groups to evaluate the program dose-effect using a cohort-sequential design. This dose-effect on pare…
