International audience; L’esclavage a été aboli définitivement en France en 1848, soit plus d’un demi-siècle après la Déclaration des droits de l’homme et du citoyen de 1789, par décrets du Gouvernement provisoire de la IIème République naissante. En effet, le principe de l’abolition immédiate est proclamé dès le 4 mars 1848 par un décret rédigé par Victor Schœlcher rentré en France seulement la veille. Afin de préparer les mesures nécessaires pour en assurer son application, une Commission d’abolition présidée par Schœlcher est instituée. Cardiac surgery outcomes in patients with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19): A case-series report

Abstract Objective The impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on the postoperative course of patients after cardiac surgery is unknown. We experienced a major severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) outbreak in our cardiac surgery unit, with several patients who tested positive early after surgery. Here we describe the characteristics, postoperative course, and laboratory findings of these patients, along with the fate of the health care workers. We also discuss how we reorganize and reallocate hospital resources to resume the surgical activity without further positive patients. A comparison of HDFS compact data formats: Avro versus Parquet

In this paper, file formats like Avro and Parquet are compared with text formats to evaluate the performance of the data queries. Different data query patterns have been evaluated. Cloudera’s open-source Apache Hadoop distribution CDH 5.4 has been chosen for the experiments presented in this article. The results show that compact data formats (Avro and Parquet) take up less storage space when compared with plain text data formats because of binary data format and compression advantage. Furthermore, data queries from the column based data format Parquet are faster when compared with text data formats and Avro. Article in English. In this chapter, we focus on the 60 KDa Heat Shock Protein (Hsp60) and discuss some of its biological, molecular and pathological features. The structural and mechanistic aspect of the Hsp60 folding cycle will be also presented. We further illustrate how Hsp60 may be involved in many diseases and therefore considered as an effective therapeutic or theranostic target. Finally, the state-of-the-art on the development of Hsp60 and bacterial GroEL inhibitors and modulators of their expression will be illustrated. Chaperonotherapy for Alzheimer’s Disease: Focusing on HSP60

This review will analyze growing evidence suggesting a convergence between two major areas of research: Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and chaperonopathies. While AD is a widely recognized medical, public health, and social problem, the chaperonopathies have not yet been acknowledged as a related burden of similar magnitude. However, recent evidence collectively indicates that such possibility exists in that AD, or at least some forms of it, may indeed be a chaperonopathy.
