This paper is concerned with the problems of finite-time stability FTS and finite-time stabilisation for a class of nonlinear systems with time-varying delay, which can be represented by Takagi–Sugeno fuzzy system. Some new delay-dependent FTS conditions are provided and applied to the design problem of finite-time fuzzy controllers. Nonlinear network dynamics for interconnected micro-grids

Abstract This paper deals with transient stability in interconnected micro-grids. The main challenge is to understand the impact of the connectivity of the graph and model nonlinearities on transient and steady-state behavior of the system as a whole. The contribution of this paper is three-fold. First, we provide a robust classification of transient dynamics for different intervals of the parameters for a single micro-grid. Flow Control of Fluid in Pipelines Using PID Controller

In this paper, a PID controller is utilized in order to control the flow rate of the heavy oil in pipelines by controlling the vibration in a motor pump. A torsional actuator is placed on the motor pump in order to control the vibration on a motor and consequently controlling the flow rates in pipelines. The necessary conditions for the asymptotic stability of the proposed controller are validated by implementing the Lyapunov stability theorem. The theoretical concepts are validated utilizing numerical simulations and analysis, which proves the effectiveness of the PID controller in the control of flow rates in pipelines.
Using an Adaptive High-Gain Extended Kalman Filter With a Car Efficiency Model

The authors apply the Adaptive High-Gain Extended Kalman Filter (AEKF) to the problem of estimating engine efficiency with data gathered from normal driving. The AEKF is an extension of the traditional Kalman Filter that allows the filter to be reactive to perturbations without sacrificing noise filtering. An observability normal form of the engine efficiency model is developed for the AEKF. The continuous-discrete AEKF is presented along with strategies for dealing with asynchronous data. Method for 3D fibre reconstruction on a microrobotic platform

Automated handling of a natural fibrous object requires a method for acquiring the three-dimensional geometry of the object, because its dimensions cannot be known beforehand. This paper presents a method for calculating the three-dimensional reconstruction of a paper fibre on a microrobotic platform that contains two microscope cameras. The method is based on detecting curvature changes in the fibre centreline, and using them as the corresponding points between the different views of the images. Preventing the oil film instability in rotor-dynamics

Horizontal rotor systems on lubricated journal bearings may incur instability risks depending on the load and the angular speed. The instability is associated with the asymmetry of the stiffness matrix of the bearings around the equilibrium position, in like manner as the internal hysteretic instability somehow, where some beneficial effect is indeed obtainable by an anisotropic configuration of the support stiffness. Hence, the idea of the present analysis is to check if similar advantages are also obtainable towards the oil film instability. However, its applicability to complex problems remains problematic due to different causes. Particularly important among these are the high quantity of data required by the agent to learn useful policies and the poor scalability to high-dimensional problems due to the use of local approximators.
