Iontophoretic Transdermal Delivery of Sumatriptan: Effect of Current Density and Ionic Strength
2005
ABSTRACT: Iontophoretic transdermal delivery of sumatriptan was investigated in vitro . Among the conditions tested, 0.25 mA/cm 2 and low ionic strength (NaCl 25 mM) was the best experimental condition to increase its transport across the skin. The flux increased 385-fold respective to passive diffusion, thus resulting in a transdermal flux of sumatriptan of 1273 ± 83 nmol/cm 2 h. © 2005 Wiley-Liss, Inc. and the American Pharmacists Association
OH/OD-IR absorption bands in SrxBa1−xNb2O6
1995
Single crystals of Sr x Ba 1−x Nb 2 O 6 (SBN) with congruent composition (x = 0.61) and Sr 0.61 Ba 0.39 Nb 2 O 6 crystals doped with various concentrations of cerium are grown with the Czochralski method. A subsequent doping of the crystals with protons and deuterons is performed either by hydrothermal high temperature treatment or by field supported hydrogen diffusion at elevated temperatures in humid atmosphere. The presence of the protons is revealed by the infrared absorption of the OH stretching vibration. This broad OH absorption band is essentially the same for Sr 0.61 Ba 0.39 Nb 2 O 6 and Sr 0.61 Ba 0.39 Nb 2 O 6 :Ce (0.025 wt% CeO 2 ). It shows a polarization dependence with respec…
Oxidative C-N fusion of pyridinyl-substituted porphyrins.
2018
International audience; The mild (electro) chemical oxidation of pyridin-2-ylthio-meso substituted Ni(II) porphyrins affords C-N fused cationic and dicationic pyridinium-based derivatives. These porphyrins are fully characterized and the molecular structure of one of them was confirmed by X-ray crystallography. A mechanism for the intramolecular oxidative C-N coupling is proposed based on theoretical calculations and cyclic voltammetry analyses.
Measurements of total ozone amount over Badajoz (Southwestern Spain) by means of a GUV multiband radiometer
2012
This paper presents the first measurements of total ozone amount performed at the radiometric station of Badajoz (Spain) by means of a multichannel radiometer GUV-2511. The retrieval of total ozone amount from GUV measurements of solar ultraviolet irradiance is performed with the support of look-up tables calculated using the SBDART radiation transfer code. This methodology is based on the different absorption by ozone suffered by the radiation at two certain near wavelengths. In this case the pair 305, 340 nm was chosen because of its better performance than the pair 305, 320 nm. The look-up table contains the ratio between irradiances at the mentioned wavelengths calculated under differen…
Stoichiometry-related Auger lineshapes in titanium oxides: Influence of valence-band profile and of Coster-Kronig processes
2004
International audience; The ability to determine the nature and the occurrence of defects is a central need of ceramic surface chemistry. In titanium oxides, the Ti-LMV Auger decays line shape is very sensitive to the titanium degree of oxidation, and has long been empirically used as a qualitative probe of the stoichiometry. In the present work, resonant Auger and resonant valence-band measurements at the Ti-L2,3 edges in TiO2, TiO2–x and metallic titanium provide a clear evidence that the evolutions of the Ti-LMV Auger line shape are due to drastic changes in the valence-band profile and in the probability of L2L3V Coster-Kronig decay processes when a fraction of titanium ions is reduced.…
Six years of progress in the oral biopharmaceutics area - A summary from the IMI OrBiTo project.
2020
OrBiTo was a precompetitive collaboration focused on the development of the next generation of Oral Biopharmaceutics Tools. The consortium included world leading scientists from nine universities, one regulatory agency, one non-profit research organisation, three small/medium sized specialist technology companies together with thirteen pharmaceutical companies. The goal of the OrBiTo project was to deliver a framework for rational application of predictive biopharmaceutics tools for oral drug delivery. This goal was achieved through novel prospective investigations to define new methodologies or refinement of existing tools. Extensive validation has been performed of novel and existing biop…
Spectroscopic characterization of red perylimide/surfactant nanocomposites
2011
Novel photoluminescent materials formed by some selected surfactants, metal derivatives of bis(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate (M(AOT)n; M = Na+, Co2+, Er3+ and Yb3+), bis(2-ethylhexyl) amine (BEEA), bis(2-ethylhexy1) phosphoric acid (HDEHP) and a 1:1 BEEA/HDEHP mixture, doped with the red perylimide (ROT-300) have been prepared, and their optical properties have been tested by absorption spectroscopy and steady state and timeresolved fluorescence. Experimental results show spectral shifts of the typical ROT-300 absorption and fluorescence bands with respect to that in apolar solvent medium. Data analysis leads consistently to attribute this feature mainly to the freezing of the diffusive move…
Radiation hardening of FBG in harsh environments
2014
International audience; The difficulties encountered in the implementation of a temperature or strain sensor based on Fiber Bragg Grating in a harsh radiative environment are introduced. We present the choices made to select both a radiation-resistant fiber in terms of transmission and also the grating inscription conditions necessary to write radiation tolerant FBGs in such fibers with a femto-second laser. The response of different classes of gratings was also studied under radiation at high doses (>1MGy). The comparison between F- and Ge-doped fibers was highlighted.
Chemical and photochemical properties of chloroharmine derivatives in aqueous solutions
2015
Thermal and photochemical stability (ΦR), room temperature UV-vis absorption and fluorescence spectra, fluorescence quantum yields (ΦF) and lifetimes (τF), quantum yields of hydrogen peroxide (ΦH2O2) and singlet oxygen (ΦΔ) production, and triplet lifetimes (τT) have been obtained for the neutral and protonated forms of 6-chloroharmine, 8-chloroharmine and 6,8-dichloroharmine, in aqueous media. When it was possible, the effect of pH and oxygen concentration was evaluated. The nature of electronic transitions of protonated and neutral species of the three investigated chloroharmines was established using Time-Dependent Density Functional Theory (TD-DFT) calculations. The impact of all the fo…
Experimental quantification of useful and parasitic absorption of light in plasmon-enhanced thin silicon films for solar cells application
2016
AbstractA combination of photocurrent and photothermal spectroscopic techniques is applied to experimentally quantify the useful and parasitic absorption of light in thin hydrogenated microcrystalline silicon (μc-Si:H) films incorporating optimized metal nanoparticle arrays, located at the rear surface, for improved light trapping via resonant plasmonic scattering. The photothermal technique accounts for the total absorptance and the photocurrent signal accounts only for the photons absorbed in the μc-Si:H layer (useful absorptance); therefore, the method allows for independent quantification of the useful and parasitic absorptance of the plasmonic (or any other) light trapping structure. W…
