Volume preserving mean curvature flows near strictly stable sets in flat torus
2021
In this paper we establish a new stability result for the smooth volume preserving mean curvature flow in flat torus $\mathbb T^n$ in low dimensions $n=3,4$. The result says roughly that if the initial set is near to a strictly stable set in $\mathbb T^n$ in $H^3$-sense, then the corresponding flow has infinite lifetime and converges exponentially fast to a translate of the strictly stable (critical) set in $W^{2,5}$-sense.
Dziecko w roli rodzica – pomylone role rodzinne. O parentyfikacji w doniesieniach światowych i polskich
2018
Cel. Abdykacja rodzica uruchamia proces parentyfikacji, w którym zwykle jedno, najczęściej najstarsze dziecko w rodzinie, czuje się oddelegowane do przejęcia roli rodzicielskiej, w różnych sferach życia rodzinnego. Świadoma pomoc i obowiązki mogą mieć charakter instrumentalny lub emocjonalny. Dziecko poddane procesowi pa…
Open-source QCD analysis of nuclear parton distribution functions at NLO and NNLO
2019
We present new sets of nuclear parton distribution functions (nPDFs) at next-to-leading order (NLO) and next-to-next-to-leading order (NNLO). Our analyses are based on deeply inelastic scattering data with charged-lepton and neutrino beams on nuclear targets. In addition, a set of proton baseline PDFs is fitted within the same framework with the same theoretical assumptions. The results of this global QCD analysis are compared to existing nPDF sets and to the fitted cross sections. Also, the uncertainties resulting from the limited constraining power of the included experimental data are presented. The published work is based on an open-source tool, xFitter, which has been modified to be ap…

Rédiger pour être publié ! 2e édition 2012
2012
Publish or perish. This saying clearly exemplifies that science communication is vital for scientists, research bodies and nation competitiveness. Nowadays both computers and internet have deeply changed the way scientific articles are written and published. In an editorial world moving at accelerated pace, scientists are eager to get their papers published in the best journals because impact factors are ruling careers and funding. Since fundings are provided by various public and private bodies, scientific papers should be partly understandable by a wide audience from journalists to entrepreneurs, political leaders and the general public. However, as an editor of scientific journals, I obs…
Scientific writing for impact factor journals
2013
EASARCICAPLivre dispo. dans :hal-00832739, version 1; Publish or Perish. This old adage illustrates the importance of scientific communication; essential to research, it also represents a strategic sector for each country’s competitiveness. An often-neglected topic, scientific communication is of vital importance, with new information technologies accelerating and profoundly changing how knowledge is disseminated. The necessity of optimally disseminating experts’ findings has also become crucial to researchers, institutes and universities alike, which has prompted the recent advent of Impact Factors for the evaluation and financing of research, the goal being for scientific knowledge to be …
The Car Resequencing Problem with Pull-Off Tables
2011
AbstractThe car sequencing problem determines sequences of different car models launched down a mixed- model assembly line. To avoid work overloads of workforce, car sequencing restricts the maximum occurrence of labor-intensive options, e.g., a sunroof, by applying sequencing rules. We consider this problem in a resequencing context, where a given number of buffers (denoted as pull-off tables) is available for rearranging a stirred sequence. The problem is formalized and suited solution procedures are developed. A lower bound and a dominance rule are introduced which both reduce the running time of our graph approach. Finally, a real-world resequencing setting is investigated.

Modeling ontologies for robotic environments
2002
On the basis of a multiple abstraction levels specification process, we developed a representational model for environmental robotic knowledge through the definition of a set of ontologies using a multi perspective approach. A general ontological model for typical indoor environments has been first developed, followed by its specialization using an implementation perspective. Actual software implementation of the ontology has been obtained via a XML-based markup language, used to build a repository for robotic environmental knowledge. Copyright 2002 ACM.
The Joint Distribution Criterion and the Distance Tests for Selective Probabilistic Causality
2010
A general definition and a criterion (a necessary and sufficient condition) are formulated for an arbitrary set of external factors to selectively influence a corresponding set of random entities (generalized random variables, with values in arbitrary observation spaces), jointly distributed at every treatment (a set of factor values containing precisely one value of each factor). The random entities are selectively influenced by the corresponding factors if and only if the following condition, called the joint distribution criterion, is satisfied : there is a jointly distributed set of random entities, one entity for every value of every factor, such that every subset of this set that corr…
