Enabling partially reconfigurable IP cores parameterisation and integration using MARTE and IP-XACT

2012

International audience; This paper presents a framework which facilitates the parameterization and integration of IP cores into partially reconfigurable SoC platforms, departing from a high-level of abstraction. The approach is based in a Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) methodology, which exploits two widely used standards for Systems-on-Chip specification, MARTE and IP-XACT. The presented work deals with the deployment level of the MDE approach, in which the abstract components of the platform are first linked to the lower level IP-XACT counterparts. At this phase, information for parameterization and integration is readily available, and a synthesizable model can be obtained from the gener…

OMiLAB: A Smart Innovation Environment for Digital Engineers

2020

This position paper introduces a Smart Innovation Environment for experimentation related to digital transformation projects, for the consolidation of a proposed "Digital Engineer" skill profile (with a business-oriented facet labelled as "Digital Innovator"). In the Internet of Things era, this profile implies the ability to perform both digital design and engineering activities, to semantically bridge multiple layers of abstraction and specificity - from business analysis down to cyber-physical engineering. In the paper's proposal, this integration is enabled by conceptual modelling methods and interoperable modelling tools, tailored to support the creation of Digital Twins for innovative…

Types of Mimetics for the Design of Intelligent Technologies

2019

Mimetic design means using a source in the natural or artificial worlds as an inspiration for technological solutions. It is based around the abstraction of the relevant operating principles in a source domain. This means that one must be able to identify the correct level of analysis and extract the relevant patterns. How this should be done is based on the type of source. From a mimetic perspective, if the design goal is intelligent technology, an obvious source of inspiration is human information processing, which we have called cognitive mimetics. This article offers some conceptual clarification on the nature of cognitive mimetics by contrasting it with biomimetics in the context of in…

A Dehydrogenase Dual Hydrogen Abstraction Mechanism Promotes Estrogen Biosynthesis: Can We Expand the Functional Annotation of the Aromatase Enzyme?

2018

Cytochrome P450 (CYP450) enzymes are involved in the metabolism of exogenous compounds and in the synthesis of signaling molecules. Among the latter, human aromatase (HA) promotes estrogen biosynthesis, which is a key pharmacological target against breast cancers. After decades of debate, interest in gaining a comprehensive picture of HA catalysis has been renewed by the recent discovery that compound I (Cpd I) is the reactive species of the peculiar aromatization step. Herein, for the first time, a complete atomic-level picture of all controversial steps of estrogen biosynthesis is presented. By performing cumulative quantum-classical molecular dynamics and metadynamics simulations of abou…

Methyl vinyl ketone+OH and methacrolein+OH oxidation reactions: a master equation analysis of the pressure- and temperature-dependent rate constants.

2006

High-level electronic structure calculations and master equation analyses were carried out to obtain the pressure- and temperature-dependent rate constants of the methyl vinyl ketone+OH and methacrolein+OH reactions. The balance between the OH addition reactions at the high-pressure limit, the OH addition reactions in the fall-off region, and the pressure-independent hydrogen abstractions involved in these multiwell and multichannel systems, has been shown to be crucial to understand the pressure and temperature dependence of each global reaction. In particular, the fall-off region of the OH addition reactions contributes to the inverse temperature dependence of the rate constants in the Ar…

Prey-predator strategies in a multiagent system

2006

This paper describes the prey-predator multiagent system which can be considered as an abstraction of more complex real-world models. Both the prey and the predators are considered as autonomous agents with their own behaviors and perception of the environment. In particular, we propose a simulator which lets study different strategies such as cooperation and individualism. An extensive experiment has been carried out in order to prove the effectiveness of the latter.

Picasso y Christian Zervos. Los dibujos escultóricos del cuaderno de Cannes, en 1927, y las esculturas biomórficas modeladas en París, en 1928

2012

This article establishes the analysis of Picasso´s drawing in Cannes, in 1927, and their relation with the sculptures fashioned in París in 1928. The review of this drawing with a new plastic purpose and the comparison with other preceding sculptures in different materials facilitate a new reading, and explain the artist evolution in that specialty and the unpublished nature of immediate sculptures. The influence on important avant-garde and surrealist artists increases the interest in this review and the conclusions reached. Preparation and Characterization of P2 BCh Ring Systems (Ch=S, Se) and Their Reactivity with N-Heterocyclic Carbenes

2018

Four-membered rings with a P2BCh core (Ch = S, Se) have been synthesized via reaction of phosphinidene chalcogenide (Ar*P=Ch) and phosphaborene (Mes*P=BNR2). The mechanistic pathways towards these rings are explained by detailed computational work that confirmed the preference for the formation of P–P, not P–B, bonded systems, which seems counterintuitive given that both phosphorus atoms contain bulky ligands. The reactivity of the newly synthesized heterocycles, as well as that of the known (RPCh)n rings (n = 2, 3), was probed by the addition of Nheterocyclic carbenes, which revealed that all investigated compounds can act as sources of low-coordinate phosphorus species. peerReviewed

Cartoon filter via adaptive abstraction

2016

We propose a non-parametric methodology to realize abstraction images. The redundant wavelet "a trous" algorithm is applied for details detection. An multi-scale circular median filter is used as a smoothing filter. The proposed algorithm is simple and fast on low-cost entry-level hardware. Abstraction in computer graphics defines a procedure that discriminates the essential information that is worth keeping. Usually details, that correspond to higher frequency components, allow to distinguish otherwise similar images. Vice versa, low frequencies are related to the main information, which are larger structures. Contours themselves may also be identified by high frequencies and separate each pi…

On the electronic structure of a dianion, a radical anion, and a neutral biradical (HB)11CCCC(BH)11 carborane dimer

2009

Abstract The electronic structure of a neutral, a radical anion, and a dianion carborane dimer connected via an acetylenic bridge unit (HB) 11 C C C C(BH) 11 is analyzed by quantum chemical methods. Geometries, relative stabilities, and singlet–triplet gaps are determined in the neutral and dianion species for the lowest-lying singlet and triplet states and for the doublet ground state in the radical anion. As for the recently studied biradical compounds derived from o -carborane, m -carborane and p -carborane [J. Chem. Theory Comput. 4 (2008) 1338] via double hydrogen abstraction, the neutral dimeric compound displays a biradical ground-state structure in which both singlet and triplet sta…
