A Proposed Access Control-Based Privacy Preservation Model to Share Healthcare Data in Cloud

2020

Healthcare data in cloud computing facilitates the treatment of patients efficiently by sharing information about personal health data between the healthcare providers for medical consultation. Furthermore, retaining the confidentiality of data and patients' identity is a another challenging task. This paper presents the concept of an access control-based (AC) privacy preservation model for the mutual authentication of users and data owners in the proposed digital system. The proposed model offers a high-security guarantee and high efficiency. The proposed digital system consists of four different entities, user, data owner, cloud server, and key generation center (KGC). This approach makes…

Rate-Splitting Random Access Mechanism for Massive Machine Type Communications in 5G Cellular Internet-of-Things

2021

The cellular Internet-of-Things has resulted in the deployment of millions of machine-type communication (MTC) devices. These massive number of devices must communicate with a single gNodeB (gNB) via the random access channel (RACH) mechanism. However, existing RACH mechanisms are inefficient when dealing with such large number of devices. To address this issue, we propose the rate-splitting random access (RSRA) mechanism, which uses rate splitting and decoding in rate-splitting multiple access (RSMA) to improve RACH success rates. The proposed mechanism divides the message into common and private messages and enhances the decoding performance. We demonstrate, using extensive simulations, t…

MAC Design for WiFi Infrastructure Networks: A Game-Theoretic Approach

2011

In WiFi networks, mobile nodes compete for accessing a shared channel by means of a random access protocol called Distributed Coordination Function (DCF). Although this protocol is in principle fair, since all the stations have the same probability to transmit on the channel, it has been shown that unfair behaviors may emerge in actual networking scenarios because of non-standard configurations of the nodes. Due to the proliferation of open source drivers and programmable cards, enabling an easy customization of the channel access policies, we propose a game-theoretic analysis of random access schemes. Assuming that each node is rational and implements a best response strategy, we show that…

How endogenous asymmetries in interregional market access trigger regional divergence

2005

International audience; We investigate how asymmetric trade patterns in differentiated products affect the regional distribution of economic activities. The asymmetry in interregional market access is an endogenous result of price competition and industry location and arises for intermediate values of trade costs. We show that the emergence of one-way trade in differentiated products gives rise to strong agglomeration forces and leads to the absorption of the smaller region's industry by the larger region. The number of spatial equilibria increases once the pattern of trade is endogenously accounted for.

Polymorphism, Metastable Species and Interconversion

2014

Abstract The natively unfolded peptide hormone glucagon forms fibrillar structures with amyloid properties. Here, we summarize past advances in glucagon fibrillation and combine them with recent new unpublished data to provide some more general conclusions on how glucagon fibrillation adapts to different physicochemical conditions such as high temperature, pressure, mechanical and chemical stress. Factors such as peptide concentration, accessible surface area, surface hydration of the glucagon molecular state, contact surface, temperature and ionic strength all contribute to fibrillar structure and stability. In addition to fundamental changes in secondary structure, glucagon fibril morphol…

Kriterien für die Auswahl von Elektronischen Rechenanlagen für Biomedizinische Forschungsinstitute

1979

Computers are now a recognized tool in biomedical research. They are used for the evaluation of data on one hand and on the other hand for data acquisition and control of experiments. Based on our experience, some suggestions concerning the structure of a mini-computer system suitable for a research laboratory are made. According to the two major classes of application, two sets or requirements arise. We argue that it is effective to use this system for data reduction and evaluation because a large percentage of tasks require program development or at least specific input data handling. Therefore, we call for a multi-user time-sharing system which should be equipped with a set of commands t…

Business Angel Investments: Risks and Opportunities

2015

Abstract For the last few years the need of improving the access to finance for the companies, especially SME's (small and middle enterprises), has been on the agenda in European Union. As long as the traditional financing such as bank loans became more complex to attract, the development of alternative investment, like seed and start-up capital investments, crowd funding, venture capital and Business angels, became a bold topic. Moreover, there is an opinion that development of alternative investment might be seen as a ground for boosting economic activity and entrepreneurship development. Even though a lot of various studies have been done on the evaluation and description of alternative …
