Intertemporal substitution and the liquidity effect in a sticky price model

Abstract The liquidity effect, defined as a decrease in nominal interest rates in response to a monetary expansion, is a major stylized fact of the business cycle. This paper first confirms that, with separable preferences, a low degree of intertemporal substitution in consumption is a necessary condition for the existence of the liquidity effect. In contrast to this result, in a model with non-separable preferences and capital accumulation it takes an implausibly high elasticity of intertemporal substitution to produce a liquidity effect. Background and purpose The aim was to assess the value of insoluble PABPN1 muscle fibre nuclei accumulation in the diagnosis of atypical cases of oculopharyngeal muscular dystrophy (OPMD). The present investigation was undertaken to study the distribution of pathological fluid accumulation and the local energy metabolism in the cortex and white matter following a localized traumatic lesion of the cortex. A systematic examination of the changes in the tissue following a trauma is the basis for further studies on the relationship between cortical blood supply, local tissue metabolism and local function.
Empirical Estimation of Accumulation-Induced Change in Gill Net Catchability: Mind the Observation Errors

We analyzed cumulative catches for 24 h gill net exposures divided into 4*6 h, 2*12 h and 1*24 h soak time treatments to estimate the reduction in its catchability due to accumulation of fish. The effects of loss of catch during net lifting, disturbance effect and fouling were eliminated as far as possible to reveal the true effect of accumulation. First we applied simple nonparametric and parametric tests in comparison of treatments. As expected, considerable reduction in catchability took place along with the increase in soak time, indicated by significantly lower total 24 h catches from longer soaks in comparison with shorter ones. Nanoparticles are sphere-like biocompatible materials made of inert silica, metal or crystals of a few nanometers in size. They are emerging as a novel class of therapeutics for cancer treatment. Being more selective and specific toward their targets, nanoparticles have the ability to enhance the anticancer effects and to simultaneously reduce systemic toxicity compared with conventional therapeutics. Abstract 1. Crayfish were exposed to 1 25 th 96-hr lc 50 and 96-hr lc 50 of lindane and endosulfan for 1, 24, 48, 72 and 96 hr. 2. Concentrations of lindane and endosulfan were determined in gill tissue at 22°C and 29°C. 3. Clear differences were found in all concentrations, times and temperatures tested in gill tissues. 4. The highest accumulation of pesticide was found in the lc 50 endosulfan value.

Abstract 1. 1. The acute toxicity of endosulfan was determined for the freshwater rotifer Brachionus calyciflorus . 2. 2. The mean 24 hr lc 50 value for endosulfan was 5.15 ppm with a coefficient of variation of 14.7%. 3. 3. Rotifers were exposed at two sublethal concentrations (1.5–2.0 ppm) of endosulfan for bioaccumulation experiments, for an exposure time of 24, 48, 72 and 96 hr. The rotifers were fed with Nannochloris oculata (5 × 10 5 cell/ml). 4. 4. The highest accumulation of endosulfan was found 24 hr after the start of the exposure to 1.5 ppm of the toxicant. A steady-state concentration in rotifer was reached between 24–48 hr, followed by a gradual decrease until 96 hr.
