Preparation and characterization of hexyl methacrylate monolithic columns for CEC

The preparation of hexyl methacrylate (HMA) monolithic columns for CEC separations has been investigated with two initiation systems: (i) ammonium peroxodisulphate and TEMED to activate the polymerization reaction, and (ii) by thermal initiation with AIBN. For both initiators, the influence of composition of porogenic solvent on morphological and chromatographic properties of monoliths was investigated. Two porogenic solvent systems, aqueous and non-aqueous media, were also studied for monolithic beds polymerized with AIBN. Peroxodisulfate as a chemical initiator for methacrylate-ester monolithic columns for capillary electrochromatography

Organic monolithic stationary phases for CEC were synthesized in situ in fused-silica capillaries. Polymerization mixtures were composed of butyl methacrylate, ethylene dimethacrylate, and [2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl]trimethyl ammonium chloride in the presence of a porogenic solvent, using ammonium peroxodisulfate as chemical initiator, and N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine to activate the reaction. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a biodegradable, biocompatible, nontoxic, and non-immunogenic glycosaminoglycan used for various biomedical applications. Combined effects of electric toothbrushing and dentifrice on artificial stain removal : an in vitro study

This in vitro study aimed to clarify the combined effect of electric toothbrushing and dentifrice on the removal of artificial stain. Twenty-five bovine incisors were cut at the cervix and the crown was embedded in auto-cured acrylic resin. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to quantify the effect of glass ionomer and adhesive cements on SP expression in healthy human dental pulp. Study Design: Forty pulp samples were obtained from healthy premolars where extraction was indicated for orthodontic reasons. In thirty of these premolars a Class V cavity preparation was performed and teeth were equally divided in three groups: Experimental Group I: Glass Ionomer cement was placed in the cavity. Core-shell nanoparticles comprised of Fe3O4 cores and a mesoporous silica shell with an average expanded pore size of 6.07 nm and coated with a poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) layer (CS MSNs EP PNIPAM) were prepared and characterized. The nanoparticles was loaded with (Ru(bipy)3 2+) dye or an antibacterial enzyme, lysozyme, to obtain CS MSNs EP PNIPAM Ru(bipy)3 2+ and CS MSNs EP PNIPAM Lys, respectively. The lysozyme loading was determined to be 160 mg/g of nanoparticle. Femtosecond laser for residual refractive error correction after refractive lens exchange with multifocal intraocular lens implantation.

Purpose To assess visual and refractive outcomes of femtosecond laser for residual refractive error correction after refractive lens exchange (RLE) with multifocal intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Design Prospective, nonrandomized, masked observational case series (self-controlled). Methods Fifty-three eyes of 31 consecutive patients were submitted to femtosecond laser surgery after RLE with multifocal IOL implantation.
