3D MHD MODELING of TWISTED CORONAL LOOPS

2016

We perform MHD modeling of a single bright coronal loop to include the interaction with a non-uniform magnetic field. The field is stressed by random footpoint rotation in the central region and its energy is dissipated into heating by growing currents through anomalous magnetic diffusivity that switches on in the corona above a current density threshold. We model an entire single magnetic flux tube, in the solar atmosphere extending from the high-beta chromosphere to the low-beta corona through the steep transition region. The magnetic field expands from the chromosphere to the corona. The maximum resolution is ~30 km. We obtain an overall evolution typical of loop models and realistic loo…

Suomalaisten 4-luokkalaisten lukutaito : PIRLS 2016 -tutkimuksen keskeisiä tuloksia

2018

Joulukuussa 2017 julkaistiin kansainvälisen lasten lukutaitotutkimuksen (PIRLS) tulokset (ks. Leino ym. 2017).

A DFT Study of the [3+2] Cycloadditions of RCNO (R = H, Me and F) With Carbon Flatland Mimicking Graphene

2012

Graphene is the latest allotrope of carbon to be under the spotlight ever since its discovery by Novoselov and coworkers in 2004. Owing to its fascinating structural, electrical, optical, mechanical and thermal properties, graphene can be regarded as as a rapidly rising star in various fields such as supercapacitors, biosensors and batteries. The organic chemistry of graphene has stimulated a great deal of research and is gaining considerable attention. Among the various experimental studies which have been carried out on graphene, it is found that [3+2] cycloadditions (32CA) can also be achieved on graphene sheets and the resulting functionalized graphenes are dispersible in polar organic …

Layered double hydroxide nanocomposites based on carbon nanoforms

2020

Abstract Carbon nanoform (CNF)/layered double hydroxide (LDH) nanocomposites have been widely studied in recent years thanks to the combination of properties of both LDH and carbon nanomaterials. They exhibit improved or unexpected properties as a consequence of their hierarchical structures. There are three main reported approaches to prepare the nanocomposites: reassembly of nanocarbons and LDHs, direct formation of LDHs on nanocarbon materials, and the direct synthesis of nanocarbons on the LDH phase. The resulting CNF/LDH nanocomposites exhibit improved conductivity, mechanical properties, and redox reactivity; moreover, the hybridization confers hierarchical porosities and better dispe…

Recovery of bioactive compounds from walnut (Juglans regiaL.) green husk by supercritical carbon dioxide extraction

2021

In this work, the use of supercritical carbon dioxide, a nontoxic solvent, was proposed to extract bioactive compounds from Juglans regia L. green husk and was compared to other traditional techniques based on solvents such as ethanol, methanol and water. Supercritical CO2 was combined with ethanol as an organic modifier at a rate of 20% of the total flow to achieve greater extraction of polar compounds. The extracts were characterised in terms of extraction yields, antioxidant activity, total polyphenol content, phenolic acids, juglone, volatile organic compounds and antifungal activity. The results showed that the extracts obtained with supercritical CO2 were rich in polyphenols (10750 mg…

Baeyer—Villiger Oxidation in Supercritical CO2 with Potassium Peroxomonosulfate Supported on Acidic Silica Gel.

2006

Supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2) is an efficient reaction medium to perform the Baeyer-Villiger oxidation with hydrated silica-supported potassium peroxomonosulfate (h-SiO2.KHSO5) under flow-through conditions. Hydration modulates the reactivity of the active surface by softening the acidity of the KHSO4 present in the supported reagent. The reaction in scCO2 is much more efficient than in n-hexane under similar conditions, which is attributed to better transport and solvating properties of the supercritical medium with regard to n-hexane.

Synthesis and Spectral and Structural Characterization of a New Series of Bis-Strapped Chiral Porphyrins Derived from L-Proline

2001

International audience; New chiral porphyrins were obtained in reasonable yields in three steps, starting from the áâáâ atropisomer of mesotetrakis(o-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP). These potential catalysts for the enantioselective epoxidation of alkenes were obtained by the reaction of different linkers on the same Lprolinoyl-picket porphyrin. Their 1H NMR spectral characteristics, as well as the crystal structure of one of them, clearly indicate that the orientation of the proline cycle depends on the linker used to tether the two pickets on each side of the porphyrin. The same linker is employed for both sides of the porphyrin; hence the resulting D2-symmetric superstructure.

Packing meterials with surface barriers, controlled distribution and topography of ligands for sample clean-up and analysis of biologically active so…

1991

Various types of, so-called, restricted access packings have been developed for sample clean-up and analysis of biologically active solutes by means of HPLC. The unique feature of these packings is that they prevent the access of matrix components such as protein whilst selectively retaining the drug components and their metabolites. This results from the fact that the particles of the packings possess a surface barrier for large solutes at the external or internal surface area and exhibit a controlled gradient in the chemical surface composition. They are grouped, according to their particle structures, into internal-surface reversed phases (ISRP), shielded hydrophobic phases (SHP), semi-p…

A Slightly Modified Expression of the Polar Surface Area Applied to an Olfactory Study

2013

The polar surface area of a molecule is currently defined as the surface sum over all polar atoms, primarily oxygen and nitrogen, also including their attached hydrogens (named PSA1 in the present study). Some authors also include sulfur and phosphor (PSA3). The slight modification suggested here is based on the fact that it is difficult to consider, on a theoretical point of view, hexavalent S and pentavalents N and P as polar atoms. Indeed, in these cases, all their peripheral electrons are involved in bondings. We propose to define PSA2 using the initial definition extended to O, S, N, P, with the exception of hexavalent S and pentavalents N and P. In order to test this hypothesis, the t…
