Trail-following pheromones in basal termites, with special reference to Mastotermes darwiniensis
2007
0098-0331 (Print) Journal Article; In the framework of an evolutionary study, trail pheromones have been studied in the most basal extant termite, Mastotermes darwiniensis (Mastotermitidae), and two other basal termites, the Termopsidae Porotermes adamsoni (Porotermitinae) and Stolotermes victoriensis (Stolotermitinae). Although workers of M. darwiniensis do not walk in single file while exploring a new environment under experimental conditions and are unable to follow artificial trails in 'open field' experiments, they do secrete a trail-following pheromone from their sternal glands. This unique behavior might reflect a primitive function of communication of the sternal gland. The major co…
Relapse Rate in Survivors of Acute Autoimmune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura Treated with or without Rituximab.
2018
Background Autoimmune thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (iTTP) is caused by autoantibody-mediated severe a disintegrin and metalloprotease with thrombospondin type 1 repeats, member 13 (ADAMTS13) deficiency leading to micro-angiopathic haemolytic anaemia (MAHA) and thrombocytopenia with organ damage. Patients survive with plasma exchange (PEX), fresh frozen plasma replacement and corticosteroid treatment. Anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody rituximab is increasingly used in patients resistant to conventional PEX or relapsing after an acute bout. Objective This retrospective observational study focused on the relapse rate and possible influencing factors including treatment with rituximab first…

Multifocal aplasia cutis congenita, distal limb hemimelia, and cutis marmorata telangiectatica in a patient with Adams-Oliver syndrome.
1992
Summary We describe an 18-month-old boy with multifocal scalp defects over the posterior parietal region combined with an underlying defect of the skull, left lower limb distal hemimelia and generalized cutis marmorata telangiectatica, consistent with a diagnosis of Adams–Oliver syndrome (aplasia cutis congenita with distal transverse limb defects).
Haploinsufficiency of the NOTCH1 receptor as a cause of Adams-Oliver syndrome with variable cardiac anomalies
2015
Background— Adams–Oliver syndrome (AOS) is a rare disorder characterized by congenital limb defects and scalp cutis aplasia. In a proportion of cases, notable cardiac involvement is also apparent. Despite recent advances in the understanding of the genetic basis of AOS, for the majority of affected subjects, the underlying molecular defect remains unresolved. This study aimed to identify novel genetic determinants of AOS. Methods and Results— Whole-exome sequencing was performed for 12 probands, each with a clinical diagnosis of AOS. Analyses led to the identification of novel heterozygous truncating NOTCH1 mutations (c.1649dupA and c.6049_6050delTC) in 2 kindreds in which AOS was segregat…
Beilinson Motives and Algebraic K-Theory
2019
Section 12 is a recollection on the basic results of stable homotopy theory of schemes, after Morel and Voevodsky. In particular, we recall the theory of orientations in a motivic cohomology theory. Section 13 is a recollection of the fundamental results on algebraic K-theory which we translate into results within stable homotopy theory of schemes. In particular, Quillen’s localization theorem is seen as an absolute purity theory for the K-theory spectrum. In Section 14, we introduce the fibred category of Beilinson motives as an appropriate Verdier quotient of the motivic stable homotopy category. Using the Adams filtration on K-theory, we prove that Beilinson motives have the properties o…
« Mouvement est nécessité » Pour une relation au monde du mouvement et de la musique
2021
Starting from a stationary state in order to feed a process, the idea of movement in music can affect both the sound material and the listening (the Hoerspiel...), both the view (musical theater) and the ancillary disciplines (dance or maping-video)... Based on examples taken in the 20th and 21st centuries (Debussy, Berg, Webern, Stravinsky, Stockhausen, Kagel, Ferrari, La Monte Young, Xenakis, Adams, De Chizy, De Mey, Trapani?), musicological study ultimately deduces that the metaphor of movement is for man an experience considered fundamental to his particular relationship to the world.
Federaliści i rozłam między klasycznością a modernością
2014
The article shows how the classical political thinking, based on civic virtues, and modernist thinking, based on individualism and self-interest, formed the basis of the U.S. Constitution. The Founding Fathers did not realize the full extent of the rift between classicism and modernity. When, as a result of intellectual discussions and practice of social life, this divide began to become more and more obvious, there has been a transition from the classical to the modernist paradigm in American politics. However, the dispute between classicism and modernity still continues and takes on new forms. On the one hand, contemporary political thinking is seen as a triumph of modernism, in which the…
