Objective: To assess the microbiological effects of an antiseptic, non-alcohol based mouth-rinse containing chlorhexidine and cetylpyridinium chloride, in patients undergoing radiation therapy for head-and-neck cancer. Increased age-associated mortality risk in HLA-mismatched hematopoietic stem cell transplantation.

We investigated a possible interaction between age-associated risk and HLA-mismatch associated risk on prognosis in different age categories of recipients of unrelated hematopoietic stem cell transplants (HSCT) (n=3019). Patients over 55 years of age transplanted with 8/10 donors showed a mortality risk of 2.27 (CI 1.70–3.03, P<0.001) and 3.48 (CI 2.49–4.86, P<0.001) when compared to 10/10 matched patients in the same age group and to 10/10 matched patients aged 18–35 years, respectively. Magnetic resonance studies of the lumbar, pelvic, and femoral bone marrow were performed in 10 patients after autologous blood stem cell transplantation, including total body irradiation and myeloablative chemotherapy. The posttreatment interval varied between 2 and 6 yr. The appearance on T1-weighted images and the quantitative data obtained from chemical shift imaging (relative fat signal) were compared to 10 age-matched healthy volunteers. Despite the wide use of G-CSF for mobilization of PBPC the best dose and schedule of G-CSF has not been definitively established. In this study we have compared three different schedules of G-CSF for mobilization of PBPC in normal donors including a single daily dose of 10 microg/kg/day for 5 days (21 donors) and doses of 6 (21 donors) or 8 microg/kg/12 h (6 donors) for 5 days. We demonstrate that G-CSF at doses of 6 and 8 microg/kg/12 h mobilizes significantly more CD34+ cells/ml of blood (83.3 +/- 6.7 and 121 +/- 6.9, respectively) than 10 microg/kg/day (71.6 +/- 6.5). Background The purpose of the present study was to evaluate changing pattern in characteristics of maxillofacial fractures and concomitant injuries in Western Libya During revolution and to assess the association between mechanism of injury and fracture patterns. Material and Methods A retrospective review of medical records and radiographs of 187 patients treated for maxillofacial fractures from January 2010 to December 2012 was performed, there were 326 fractures in 187 patients. However, the genetic basis of cytokine production by T lymphocytes in humans is poorly understood.
