Sympathetic tone and ventricular tachycardia

Background The pathogenesis of idiopathic monomorphic ventricular tachycardia is not clear. We suppose that a lack of balance of the sympathetic system could be involved. Frequency domain analyses of the heart rate can be useful to understand autonomic system balance. Therefore we performed this evaluation on a sample of seven children affected by idiopathic monomorphic ventricular tachycardia. Methods and results We performed a Holter recording for palpitations on all the children, with an average age of 12 (range: 7-18 years). Abstract The objective of this work was to develop a simple and inexpensive transdermal formulation containing Nortriptyline Hydrochloride (NTH) for smoking cessation support therapy. Hydroxypropyl-methyl-cellulose was chosen as polymer and a mixture of transdermal enhancers (selected from previous research) was incorporated. The formulations were characterised in terms of appearance, thickness, uniformity of NTH content, release and skin permeation. Release studies demonstrated controlled release for four formulations. An overview of the clinical efficacy of mirtazapine

Mirtazapine is at least as effective as the tricyclic antidepressants and trazodone in a wide range of patient subgroups including in- and out-patients with moderate to severe depression. It also appears to be at least as effective as the serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitor venlafaxine in the treatment of severely depressed melancholic patients. When compared with the selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), mirtazapine shows a significantly earlier onset of action. Further analysis of a study comparing mirtazapine with the SSRI paroxetine indicated that early improvement was a highly sensitive predictor of later stable response for both drugs. A simple and efficient method was developed for simultaneous analysis of five illegal residual β2-agonists in cattle hair. β2-Agonists were quantified by ultra high performance liquid chromatography coupled with electrospray ionisation tandem mass spectrometry operating in positive multiple-reaction monitoring mode. The method was validated as quantitative confirmatory method according to the EU Decision 2002/657/EC: instrumental linearity, specificity, precision, recovery, decision limit (CCα) and detection capability (CCβ) were evaluated. Peak capacity (i.e. maximal number of resolved peaks that fit in a chromatographic window) is a theoretical concept with growing interest, but based on a situation rarely met in practice. Real chromatograms tend to have uneven distributions, with overlapped peaks and large gaps. The number of resolved compounds should, therefore, be known from estimations. From the experiments where mixture of xylazine hydrochloride hydrate H and anhydrous X were held at constant conditions, the stable form of xylazine hydrochloride can be found out. To determine equilibrium relative humidity, the unstable form of xylazine hydrochloride was inserted in thermostated humidity chamber and its weight was recorded by weighing the sample outside the chamber. The relative stability of xylazine hydrochloride polymorphous forms

All four known xylazine hydrochloride polymorphous forms were obtained and their relative stabilities were compared directly at three different temperatures. At higher temperatures, it is possible to determine the relative stability of all forms directly by measuring the changes in the composition of the mixtures of two polymorphous forms using powder x-ray diffraction methods.
