Measuring the antecedents of e-loyalty and the effect of switching costs on website
2010
This paper deals with the process by which electronic customer loyalty (e-loyalty) is formed. The twofold aim is to analyse e-loyalty, describing its development in terms of how it is influenced by several determinants and to study potential barriers to switching which significantly affect the repeat purchase decision. In particular, an integrating theoretical framework is proposed to determine the e-loyalty dependency of electronic service quality and perceived value, and how this last relationship can be moderated by switching costs. Results offer evidence for the important role of customer's perceptions of e-service quality and value in e-loyalty. Proposals are made of how companies that…
Coordinated Interpersonal Behaviour in Collective Dance Improvisation: The Aesthetics of Kinaesthetic Togetherness
2018
International audience; Collective dance improvisation (e.g., traditional and social dancing, contact improvisation) is a participatory, relational and embodied art form which eschews standard concepts in aesthetics. We present our ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying the lived experience of "togetherness" associated with such practices. Togetherness in collective dance improvisation is kinaesthetic (based on movement and its perception), and so can be simultaneously addressed from the perspective of the performers and the spectators, and be measured. We utilise these multiple levels of description: the first-person, phenomenological level of personal experiences, the third-perso…
Emotional Business Intelligence
2014
The domain of Emotional Business Intelligence (EBI) aims to support business-relevant emotional and emotion-aware decisions in addition to rational decision making. EBI originates from three root domains: Emotional Business, Emotional Intelligence and Business Intelligence (BI). In this paper we emphasize emotional empowerment of the traditional BI function; outline its main characteristics as a business working model of an emotionally smart, continuously learning organization; and introduce a first candidate of the EBI Toolkit, the FeelingsExplorer (FE). FE is a mash-up browser based on 4i (“ForEye”) technology, capable of visualizing objects in an emotional semantic space and thereby supp…
Affect, Uncertainty, and Decision-Making
2016
International audience; Decision-making is a complex cognitive process of selecting an action among various alternatives. Everyday life is full of situations calling for multiple decisions: living somewhere, moving home, choosing a route, changing route are all decisions that determine our life setting and way of life. These decisions may have a limited impact or over the longer term may cause slight inconvenience, a fleeting feeling of well-being or deep unease, or possibly even unbearable anxiety.
Definiteness Marking Shows Late Effects during Discourse Processing: Evidence from ERPs
2009
This paper investigates the processing of indefinite and definite noun phrases in discourse. It presents data from an Event-Related brain Potential (ERP) study that contrasted definite and indefinite noun phrases following three distinct context sentences. The data suggest that coherence considerations influence early processing stages, while morphological definiteness features only affect later stages during reference resolution. In addition, the processing of a definite determiner (prior to encountering the subsequent noun) exerts processing demands, supporting the functional contribution of definiteness marking. Supplementary data from a plausibility questionnaire and two completion stud…
Archives and documents in the digital age
2017
The paper aims to examine and explore on some of the characteristics of …
Détection automatique des repères visuels associés à la dépression
2018
Depression is the most prevalent mood disorder worldwide having a significant impact on well-being and functionality, and important personal, family and societal effects. The early and accurate detection of signs related to depression could have many benefits for both clinicians and affected individuals. The present work aimed at developing and clinically testing a methodology able to detect visual signs of depression and support clinician decisions.Several analysis pipelines were implemented, focusing on motion representation algorithms, including Local Curvelet Binary Patterns-Three Orthogonal Planes (LCBP-TOP), Local Curvelet Binary Patterns- Pairwise Orthogonal Planes (LCBP-POP), Landma…
In-group favouritism and out-group derogation towards national groups: Age-related differences among Italian school children
2013
Abstract Recently many researchers investigated intergroup attitudes among children, but only few studies analyzed developmental pathways of in-group favouritism and out-group derogation in considerable samples across broad age ranges. The present study aims at examining age-related differences in in-group favouritism and out-group derogation towards national groups among Italian children. Six hundred-seven children (305 males, 302 females), aged 6–12 living in Italy, were asked to answer an individual interview, making various evaluations of the national in-group and of 2 salient national out-groups (German and English). For research purposes 3 measures were used: number of positive traits…
Masculine (Low) Digit Ratios Predict Masculine Food Choices in Hungry Consumers
2021
Abstract This study investigated the link between individuals’ 2D:4D digit ratio (a biomarker associated with prenatal testosterone exposure) and their inclination to make masculine food choices. Furthermore, the study investigated whether this potential association would be moderated by consumers’ levels of hunger (vs. satiation). Participants (N = 216; 50% female) made a set of binary food choices between items pretested to be perceived as masculine (vs. feminine) and indicated the lengths of their second (2D) and fourth (4D) digits (i.e., index and ring fingers), which were used to calculate their 2D:4D digit ratios. Additionally, they self-reported their self-perceived gender identity a…
Hybrid Engagement: Discourses and Scenarios of Entrepreneurial Journalism
2018
Although the challenge posed by social media and the participatory turn concerns culture and values at the very heart of journalism, journalists have been reluctant to adopt participatory values and practices. To encourage audience participation and to offer journalism that is both trustworthy and engaging, journalists of the future may embrace a hybrid practice of journalistic objectivity and audience-centred dialogue. As innovative and experimental actors, entrepreneurial journalism outlets can perform as forerunners of such a culture. By analysing discourses in the “About Us” pages of 41 entrepreneurial journalism outlets, the article examines the emerging journalistic ethos of entrepren…
