AbstractIf politics is understood as a foundational and open-ended activity, a general problem that arises from such a framing concerns the question of how to sustain the possibility of continuous openings without converting action into permanence and closure. In this article, we approach this problematic by treating Hannah Arendt as an exemplary figure in the current of political thought that emphasizes the indeterminate nature of action. Šajā darbā tiek apskatītas Mišela Fuko un Džordžo Agambena izpratnes par biopolitikas problemātiku, meklējot kopīgu perspektīvu šo abu autoru skatījumā par to, kas ir biopolitika un kādas ir tās varas attiecības un tehnikas, kas tiek realizētas biopolitikas kontekstā. Šīs kopīgās perspektīvas iezīmēšana balstās Džordžo Agambena un Mišela Fuko darbu interpretācijā, norādot uz līdzīgo, kas atklājas koncentrācijas nometnes, Panoptikona, populācijas pārvaldības un izņēmuma stāvokļa analīzē. Šajā darbā tiek apskatīts Džordžo Agambena Homo Sacer projekts, meklējot ķermeņa lietojuma paradigmas izcelšanos un funkcionēšanas mehānismus modernajā Rietumu pasaules pārvaldībā. Maģistra darbā uzmanība vērsta uz Agambena politiskās ontoloģijas priekšstatiem, par vienu no šīs sistēmas pamatelementiem izvirzot ķermeņa lietojuma konceptu. Darbā, balstoties uz Homo Sacer grāmatu tekstiem, rasts skaidrojums lietojuma un tādējādi arī ķermeņa lietojuma nozīmei modernitātes un nākamības politiskās ontoloģijas kontekstā. Rapid antibiotic susceptibility testing on blood cultures using MALDI-TOF MS

International audience; Antibiotic resistance is a major public health problem requiring the early optimization of antibiotic prescriptions. Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization-Time Of Flight Mass Spectrometry (MALDI-TOF MS) has been shown to accurately identify bacteria from positive blood culture. Here, we developed a rapid detection of Escherichia coli resistance to amoxicillin (AMX) and cefotaxime (CTX) from positive blood culture based on MALDI-TOF MS. A method for screening diacetyl and acetoin-producing bacteria on agar plates

A simple method for screening bacteria for diacetyl and acetoin production was developed. This method is based on the ability of diacetyl and acetoin to form a red insoluble complex with α-naphthol in the presence of creatine. Addition of carboxymethyl-cellulose containing calcium citrate in the medium allowed discrimination between citrate utilizing and non-utilizing bacteria.
Microbial safety of black summer truffle collected from Sicily and Umbria Regions, Italy

Background: Tuber aestivum Vittad., known as black summer truffle, represents high-value food especially used as garnishment in nouvelle cuisine. The aim of this study was to investigate on the viable microbial populations associated with T. aestivum ascomata collected in different sites of Sicily and one locality of Umbria (Italy).
 Methods: The ripe ascomata of black summer truffles were collected from Central Italy. Cell densities of spoilage bacteria, fecal indicators, potential pathogens, yeasts, and molds were analyzed. Statistical analysis was conducted with XLSTAT software.

Acute GABA transporter inhibition can induce anxiolytic-like behaviors. The present analysis addressed whether chronic treatment (23 days via drinking water) with a GABA transporter inhibitor affects rat behavior similar to acute treatment and interferes with additional benzodiazepine-receptor agonistic treatment. Seventy-one rats divided into seven groups were acutely treated with either vehicle, diazepam (2 mg/kg), zolpidem (0.05 mg/kg), tiagabine (19 mg/kg) or chronically with tiagabine with or without acute diazepam or zolpidem.
