W artykule przedstawiono zarys działalności redakcji czasopisma „Społeczeństwo Otwarte”, wydawanego w latach 1990-1998. Jedynego w owym czasie w kraju, starającego się zagospodarować ten obszar znaczeń, który w polskiej szkole i edukacji realizowanej przez nauczycieli należało łączyć z demokracją, formacją obywatela i nauką o społeczeństwie. Na podstawie przeprowadzonej analizy miesięcznika przybliżono wybrane treści wiążące się z problematyką wychowania obywatelskiego, demokracją, ładem społecznym i samorządnością. Heart rate variability and self-control–A meta-analysis

We read the commentary on our meta-analysis with great interest and we greatly appreciate that the authors developed suggestions for further research on heart rate variability (HRV) and self-control. While we mostly support these suggestions, we believe that it is necessary to clarify some points raised with respect to our meta-analysis. The first point brought up by the authors of the commentary is the focus of our meta-analysis on HRV instead of vagal tone and the inclusion of studies using the standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN). Las plantas que han desarrollado una estrecha adaptación a un hábitat muy específico son normalmente muy vulnerables a los cambios ambientales que se produzcan en él. Muchas veces, no son capaces de colonizar otras zonas, y por ello sufren grave riesgo de desaparecer cuando se altera su hábitat natural. Este trabajo se ha cofinanciado por la Generalitat Valenciana (Conselleria de Conselleria de Agricultura, Desarrollo Rural, Emergencia Climática y Transición Ecológica, Servicio de Vida Silvestre) y la Universitat de València.

Su adaptación a un hábitat difícil, como son las repisas y grietas de paredes rocosas, le permite huir de la excesiva competencia que encuentra en otros terrenos; son plantas que buscan su espacio donde otras especies no pueden vivir. El conocimiento de su forma de propagación pretende contribuir a su conservación. We analyzed the effects of working activity and working shifts on the circadian rhythmicity and circadian phase relations of serum cortisol level, white blood cells count, resting heart rate and systolic/diastolic blood pressure in a group of italian fishermen. We observed a shift-induced displacement of cortisol secretion and a modification in leukocyte count. Moreover, systolic/diastolic blood pressure and resting heart rate were markedly influenced by the night shift, whereas no appreciable changes were observed after the morning and afternoon shifts, compared to pre-working values. Investigating the Structure of Vela X

Vela X is the prototypical example of a pulsar wind nebula whose morphology and detailed structure have been affected by the interaction with the reverse shock of its host supernova remnant. The resulting complex of filamentary structure and mixed-in ejecta embedded in a nebula that is offset from the pulsar provides the best example we have of this middle-age state that characterizes a significant fraction of composite SNRs, and perhaps all of the large-diameter PWNe seen as TeV sources.
