The role of social media in the rise of right-wing populism in Finland

Right-wing populism is typically entangled with xenophobic nationalism and neo-conservatism, which often usher in racism and misogyny. In this chapter, the authors take Finland as a case study to examine the role of media technology in the rise of right-wing populism. They demonstrate the strengthening of the far-right ideology on and through social media from the beginning of 2010s. It focuses on the mediated construction of two entangled ideologies in the right-wing populist movement racism and misogyny. Tutkin kandidaatintyössäni Leena Lehtolaisen romaanisarjassa esiintyvän päähenkilön Hilja Ilveskeron henkilöhahmoa ja sen kehittymistä erityisesti suhteessa dekkarin lajiin. Sisällytän tutkimukseeni romaanit Henkivartija, Oikeuden jalopeura ja Paholaisen pennut. Tutkin Hilja Ilveskeron henkilöhahmoa ja sen kehittymistä. Tutkimukseni aineistona olevat kolme kirjaa täyttävät selvästi dekkarin lajitunnusmerkit, joten vertaan myös henkilöhahmoa dekkarin tyypillisiin henkilöhahmoihin ja tutkin sen sijoittumista suhteessa niihin ja suhteessa dekkarin lajiin ja sen alalajeihin. [EN] Faced with the COVID-19 pandemic situation, education has had to adapt to online teaching, trying to preserve the essential student-teacher interaction. In this project we used the interactive tool Kahoot! in the theory lectures of Special Anatomical Pathology of the Degree in Medicine, which were fully taught online. The games consisted of questions about the lesson´s contents, to strengthen learning and self-evaluation. After playing Kahoot!, results were discussed to highlight important concepts and explain doubts. The perception of the students was evaluated through an online survey.
