AbstractAmyloid-β precursor protein (APP) is central to the pathogenesis of Alzheimer’s disease, yet its physiological functions remain incompletely understood. Previous studies had indicated important synaptic functions of APP and the closely related homologue APLP2 in excitatory forebrain neurons for spine density, synaptic plasticity, and behavior. Here, we show that APP is also widely expressed in several interneuron subtypes, both in hippocampus and cortex. To address the functional role of APP in inhibitory neurons, we generated mice with a conditional APP/APLP2 double knockout (cDKO) in GABAergic forebrain neurons using DlxCre mice. Objective To investigate the lipid peroxidation (PEROX) processes in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) patients, and whether this mechanism may be related to disease progression. Material and methods A prospective, observational, cross-sectional, non-experimental, and analytical study was conducted on a case and a comparison group, consisting of 175 surgical patients divided into: (1) POAG group (GG; n = 88) and (2) comparison group of patients with cataracts (CG; n = 87). It is evident that our technological society is undoubtedly linked to the diffusion of images. Authors such as Gottfried Boehm John Mitchell Hans Belting investigated the nature of the image by laying the foundations in the 1990s for the idea of ​​a pictorial turn of a culture totally dominated by images that has now become a real technical possibility on global scale. A hidden species becoming visible : biogeography and ecology of Rhynchotalona latens (Cladocera, Anomopoda, Chydoridae)

A long hidden chydorid (Chydoridae, Cladocera) taxon, first found as fossil specimens and recently redefined as Rhynchotalona latens (Sarmaja-Korjonen et al., Hydrobiologia 436: 165-169, 2000) is investigated for its biogeography and ecology. Late Holocene sediment sequence from Lake Sylvilampi, NE Finnish Lapland, and R. latens spatial distribution in relation to limno-climatic attributes in Finland were examined. Principal component analyses of fossil cladoceran communities showed that R. latens is mostly affiliated with Alonella excisa-Alonopsis elongata-Alonella nana species pool. Novel Lipophilic Lanthanide Bis-Phthalocyanines Functionalized by Pentadecylphenoxy Groups: Synthesis, Characterization and UV-Photostability

Novel sandwich-type phthalocyanines containing a rare earth metal core (Pr, Nd, Eu-Lu) and macrocycles peripherally substituted by pentadecylphenoxy groups were synthesized using a cardanol-based phthalonitrile precursor and the respective lanthanide acetate. Additionally, the metal free-base analog compound was studied for comparison. The purified reaction products were all found to be thick and viscous substances at room temperature, showing liquid crystalline behavior with a distinct increase in fluidity at ca. 40 ° C. The malonate complex of formula [Pr2(C3H2O4)3(H2O)3]·2H2O (1) was prepared and his crystal structure determined by X-ray diffraction methods. 1 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group P21, Z = 4, with unit cell parameters a = 7.631(2), b = 12.899(4), c = 8.923(2) A and β = 101.11(3)°. 1 is a polymer which grows in the (110) plane. The hydrogen bond stabilizes the crystal structure forming a three-dimensional network. The two non-equivalent praseodymium(III) ions have different environments. Finally, the thermal behaviour and magnetic properties were investigated.

Crystal growth and structural remarks on malonate-based lanthanide coordination polymers

The synthesis, structural characterization and thermal study of new coordination polymers (CPs) of formula [Ln2(mal)3(H2O)5]·2H2O [Ln = Ho (1·2H2O), Tb (1a), Dy (1b), Er (1c) and Yb (1d); mal = malonate], [Ln2(mal)3(H2O)6] [Ln = Sm (2) and Ce (2a)], [Ce2(mal)3(H2O)6]·2H2O (3·2H2O) and [Ce2(mal)3(H2O)3]·2H2O (4·2H2O) are presented.
