Demokraattisen kansalaisen hyveet Carlos Alberto Torresin kansalaisuuskäsityksessä
2014
Muuttuvassa maailmassa tulisi pohtia, millaisia kansalaisia haluamme kasvattaa. Erityisen tärkeää on pysähtyä tarkastelemaan koulutuksen roolia demokraattisten kansalaisten kasvattajana. Yksi Torresin demokraattis-monikulttuurisen kansalai…
Biedermeierowskie świadectwo zarazy - "Granit" Adalberta Stiftera
2021
The following article is an introduction to the Adalbert Stifter’s short story entitled Granite in Polish translation. The article explains the political and cultural origin of the work, its poetical form, its ethical and philosophical meaning. The Granite, included in the short story collection (Colorful Stones, 1853) is considered to be an important declaration of Biedermeier movement in Austria, its aesthetic as well as its ethic tradition, manifest of which was so-called „Gentle Law” (das sanfte Gesetz), i.e. an ordered existence harmony and an unspectacular, daily practising the humanism in the personal, country and social life. In Stifter’s piece it concerns also an extraordinary case…
La facciata e la soglia. L’estetica dell’architettura tra pubblico e privato
2010
Time as an Empirical Concept in Special Relativity
2019
According to a widespread view, Einstein’s definition of time in his special relativity is founded on the positivist verification principle. The present paper challenges this received outlook. It argues that Einstein’s position on the concept of time, to wit, simultaneity, is best understood as a mitigated version of concept empiricism. He contrasts his position to Newton’s absolutist and Kant’s transcendental arguments, and in part sides with Hume’s and Mach’s empiricist arguments. Nevertheless, Einstein worked out a concept empiricism that is considerably more moderate than what we find in the preceding empiricist tradition and early logical positivism. He did not think that the origin of…

2015
The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate the crucial role of legal science for the practical side of the law, while analyzing in detail the statutes' reform of Bergamo (1331). Francesco D'Alberti di Villanuova's renewal of bilingual lexicography
2010
This study investigates the reasons for Alberti's uncommon celebrity for over a century, from the first publication of his dictionary (1771-1772) until 1881, when he was still held up as a model by other lexicographers. While compiling his bilingual dictionary, Alberti referred to the monolingual dictionaries of the Académie franaise (4th edition, 1762) and the Accademici della Crusca (4th edition, 1729-1738), but he also drew from the works of other lexicographers, especially Diderot and d'Alembert, whom he only marginally quotes for political reasons. From a practical lexicographical point of view, Alberti's innovations were the methodical construction of the microstructure following a ve…
2013
The concepts of spirit and spiritual immutation, although widely neglected, is of great interest for the understanding of Aquinas' theory of perception. In this article it will be argued that on historical as well as systematic grounds in Aquinas the concept of spiritus is ontologically ambiguous being the main question whether it has to be conceived of as something mainly material or immaterial. The ambivalence becomes especially obvious in his treatment of spiritual immutation, A brief outlook to Albert the Great and Roger Bacon aims to show that in the 13th century there were in fact theoretical alternatives to Aquinas' explanation of perceptual processes.
