Lipase-catalysed preparation of acyl derivatives of the germacranolide sesquiterpenoid cnicin

2009

Several acyl derivatives of cnicin were obtained through lipase-catalysed acylation and alcoholysis reactions. In most reactions lipases showed a regioselective behaviour affording only one product. Longer chain acyl derivatives were prepared at lower temperature than the used in lipase-catalysed reactions, to preclude side products formation. The enzymatic approach let to prepare a family of novel acetyl and fatty acid derivatives of cnicin which are not obtainable following traditional organic synthetic procedures.

El alcoholismo femenino : una aproximación cualitativa

2000

Perinatal alcohol intake, maternal behaviour and transgenerational inheritance of drug abuse; effects of drinking pattern and environmental enrichment

2015

Alcohol drinking during pregnancy and post-partum is a major concern because of the persistent neurobehavioral deficits in the offspring that include increased vulnerability to substance abuse (McMurray et al., 2008). Moreover, the pattern of alcohol consumption accounts for specific neurobiological alterations that involve brain regions, that significantly overlap with those involved in maternal care behaviour (Stuber et al., 2008; George et al. 2012). Rodent studies on environmental enrichment have clearly demonstrated the capacity for non-drug modification of addiction-related behaviours (Nader et al., 2012). Thus, this study aimed at: (I) exploring the consequences of continuous vs. int…

Intermittent- vs continuous alcohol access in female rats: Effects on deprivation phenotype and maternal behavior as a consequence of the drinking pa…

2015

In male rats, the intermittent alcohol access paradigm produces relevant and specific consequences on neuronal activity and behavior, with respect to traditional free-access paradigms (Carnicella et al., 2014). In order to explore gender-related effects, this study aimed at assessing the consequences of two different patterns of alcohol self-administration on peculiar feminine behavioral repertoire, such as deprivation phenotype and maternal care. Animals underwent long-term, home cage, two-bottle “alcohol (20% v/v) or water” choice regimen, with continuous (7 days a week) or intermittent (3 days a week) access, and were tested for alcohol intake and preference. During acute deprivation, th…

Lapsettomuutta kokeneiden tupakointi, alkoholinkäyttö ja paino Terveys 2011 tutkimuksessa

2017

TIIVISTELMÄ Vilanti, T. 2017. Lapsettomuutta kokeneiden tupakointi, alkoholinkäyttö ja paino Terveys 2011 tutkimuksessa. Liikuntatieteellinen tiedekunta, Jyväskylän yliopisto, Terveyskasvatuksen pro gradu -tutkielma Osa I 28 s., 2 liitettä. Osa II 19s. Tahaton lapsettomuus on yleistynyt sekä naisilla että miehillä niin Suomessa kuin maailmanlaajuisestikin. Monien elintapojen on todettu olevan yhteydessä hedelmällisyyteen.

Predicting the age at natural menopause in middle-aged women

2021

Objective To predict the age at natural menopause (ANM). Methods Cox models with time-dependent covariates were utilized for ANM prediction using longitudinal data from 47 to 55-year-old women (n = 279) participating in the Estrogenic Regulation of Muscle Apoptosis study. The ANM was assessed retrospectively for 105 women using bleeding diaries. The predictors were chosen from the set of 32 covariates by using the lasso regression (model 1). Another easy-to-access model (model 2) was created by using a subset of 16 self-reported covariates. The predictive performance was quantified with c-indices and by studying the means and standard deviations of absolute errors (MAE ± SD) between the pre…

Sorption kinetic of aroma compounds by edible bio-based films from marine-by product macromolecules: Effect of relative humidity conditions

2019

International audience; Edible films based on gelatin and chitosan have high gas and aroma barrier properties. This study focused on their capability to sorbed/retain aroma compounds (1-hexanal, 2-hexen-1-ol, 1-hexanol, 3-hexanone and phenol) at three relative humidity level (≤2%, 53% or 84% RH). Whatever the relative humidity condition, the order of sorption is keton (3-hexanone) < aldehyde (1-hexanal) < aliphatic alcohols (2-hexen-1-ol and 1-hexanol) < phenol. This order could be related to the intrinsic chemical properties of aroma compounds. The increase in moisture enhanced the sorption at the highest RH for all the aroma compounds. However, a competition between water and aliphatic al…

Involvement of an Alkane Hydroxylase System of Gordonia sp. Strain SoCg in Degradation of Solid n-Alkanes▿

2010

ABSTRACT Enzymes involved in oxidation of long-chain n -alkanes are still not well known, especially those in Gram-positive bacteria. This work describes the alkane degradation system of the n -alkane degrader actinobacterium Gordonia sp. strain SoCg, which is able to grow on n -alkanes from dodecane (C 12 ) to hexatriacontane (C 36 ) as the sole C source. SoCg harbors in its chromosome a single alk locus carrying six open reading frames (ORFs), which shows 78 to 79% identity with the alkane hydroxylase (AH)-encoding systems of other alkane-degrading actinobacteria. Quantitative reverse transcription-PCR showed that the genes encoding AlkB (alkane 1-monooxygenase), RubA3 (rubredoxin), RubA4…
