This article reports on the synthesis, characterization and properties of a series of anthracene−containing poly(p-phenylene-ethynylene)-alt-poly(p-phenylene-vinylene)s (PPE−PPV) copolymers with general constitutional unit (Ph−C≡C−Anthr−C≡C−Ph−CH═CH−Ph−CH═CH−)n denoted AnE-PV. Solely linear (AnE-PVaa, -ad, -ae) and solely branched (AnE-PVbb) as well as mixed linear and branched (AnE-PVab, -ac, -ba, -cc) alkoxy side chains were grafted to the backbone in order to tune the π−π-stacking ability of the materials. Intercorrelation between Structural Ordering and Emission Properties in Photoconducting Polymers

We investigated the structural properties of anthracene containing poly(p-phenylene−ethynylene)-alt-poly(p-phenylene−vinylene) polymers with general constitutional unit: (−Ph−C≡C−Anthr−C≡C−Ph−CH═CH−Ph−CH═CH−)n by means of wide-angle X-ray scattering and fluorescence spectroscopy. Interchain interactions were systematically modified by decorating the conjugated polymer backbone with linear or branched or combinations of linear and branched alkoxy side chains. Special emphasis is taken on an evaluation method for fiber scattering spectra that allows the deduction of important structural details of polymer materials with limited degree of order. Lochmann-Schlosser superbases are formed by mixing alkyllithium with potassium alkoxides. These reagents could prove their synthetic usefulness and reliability in many reactions over five decades. However, despite many efforts, the real source of the exceptional reactivity remained a secret. The seemingly manageable system of four components (lithium, potassium atoms, alkyl groups, and alkoxy groups) and their interaction is obscured by poor solubility and fierce reactivity. Isomeric glycoconjugates have been distinguished using desorption negative-ion chemical ionization/tandem mass spectrometry (DNCI–MS/MS). The structure of the leaving terpene influences the orientation of consecutive decompositions during collisionally activated decomposition (CAD) of [M–H]− ions which pass through a glucose alkoxide intermediate ion. This apparent „memory effect” can be rationalized by considering the production of anion-induced dipole complexes.

A dysfunction of GABAergic neurotransmission is related to diseases such as epilepsy, Huntington-disease and Parkinson-syndrome. A new 18F-fluorine labelled GABA transporter ligand for the GABA-transporter subtype GAT-3 was developed which may allow the in vivo visualisation of GABAergic neurotransmission. Mixtures of the cationic surfactants benzalkonium chloride (BKC) and cetylpyridinium chloride (CPC) were quickly resolved and reproducibly and reliably determined by using background electrolytes (BGEs) containing 80 mM borate, pH 8.5, bile salts and large concentrations of an organic solvent. When the bile salt is present, the separation mechanism changes from capillary zone electrophoresis (CZE) to a mixed micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC)-CZE, with predominant MEKC interactions, which lead to an excellent resolution of all the solutes, including the C12-C18 homologues of BKC and CPC. Indolyl enol ethers, generated from the alkoxy(indolyl)carbenium tetra- fluoroborates (1) by treatment with sodium hydride, can be trapped with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate or N-phenylmaleimide to furnish the se- lectively functionalized carbazoles (3), (4), (5), (9), (10), and (13). In addition, the biaryl derivatives (6) and (11) are produced by a ring- opening reaction of the primarily formed Diels-Alder adduct. In the case of the biaryl derivative (6), an X-ray crystal structure analysis yields valuable information on constitutions and configurations in the biaryl series. Enantioselective Protonation of the Lithium Transient Enolate of2-Methyltetralone with 2-Sulfinyl Alcohols

A new catalytic cycle for the enantioselective protonation of cyclic ketone enolates with sulfinyl alcohols has been developed. An enol trifluoroacetate that can be easily obtained from the corresponding ketone is used for the first time as an enolate precursor of a cyclic ketone enolate. In this method, the achiral alcohol plays two roles: it is involved, as is usual in catalytic asymmetric protonation reactions, in the turnover of the chiral proton source and also in the generation of a transient enolate through the reaction of its corresponding alkoxide with the enol trifluoroacetate precursor. Synthesis and Reaction Chemistry of Sb(ECH2CH2NMe2)3(E= O, S)

The antimony aminoalkoxide and aminothiolates Sb(ECH 2CH 2NMe 2) 3 [E = O (1), S (2)] were synthesized and their ability to form adducts with other metal moieties investigated. Compound 1 forms 1:1 adducts with NiI 2 (3) and M(acac) 2 [M = Cd (4), Ni (5)], while 2 undergoes ligand exchange with AlMe 3 to afford Me 2AlSCH 2CH 2NMe 2 (6). The structures of 2-4 and 6 were determined. Compound 2 incorporates three S, N-chelating ligands though the interaction with nitrogen is weaker than in analogous alkoxide complexes. Butene Isomerization and Double-Bond Migration on the H-ZSM-5 Outer Surface: A Density Functional Theory Study

Isomerization of trans-but-2-ene to cis-but-2-ene and double bond migration of trans-but-2-ene to but-1-ene have been investigated by means of density functional theory calculations on a suitable model of H-ZSM-5 surface. The study has been afforded on outer surface sites by considering the hydroxyl group of either a SiO2(OH)2 or a AlO2H(OH)2 moiety. On these outer surface sites, one alkoxide species occurs as a stable intermediate both along the isomerization and double bond migration pathways.
