Per centinaia di anni il rapporto tra identità e alterità è stato configurato in modo gerarchico, legittimato dall'affermazione, in un periodo di influenza coloniale, di un pensiero dicotomico riguardante il mondo: la divisione tra un mondo abitato da "altri" e un occidente superiore rispetto al primo sul piano culturale. Ci chiediamo con questo lavoro se (in che modo) tale rapporto sia stesso messo in discussione del fenomeno della globalizzazione, da un lato, e, dalla rivoluzione delle tecnologie della comunicazione e dell'informazione dall'altro lato.

Acanthamoeba can cause severe ocular and cerebral diseases in healthy and immunocompromised individuals, respectively. Activation of complement appears to play an important role in host defence against infection. The exact mechanism, however, is still unclear. Abstract Given the demand for improved methods for detecting and characterizing RNA variants in situ, we developed a quantitative method for detecting RNA alternative splicing variants that combines in situ hybridization of fluorescently labeled peptide nucleic acid (PNA) probes with confocal microscopy Forster resonance energy transfer (FRET). The use of PNA probes complementary to sequences flanking a given splice junction allows to specifically quantify, within the cell, the RNA isoform generating such splice junction as FRET efficiency measure. The chapter discusses critically the ontology of zombie world, as well as its interlink with the Thana-capitalism, as a new stage of capitalism where the Other’s death is gazed, consumed and preferred. The paradigm of the zombie world is debated in this chapter. In this respect, the culture of zombies situates in a futurist—apocalyptic—world, where technology and modern science have contributed to the end of mankind. Development of an efficient system for the separation of indole alkaloids by high performance liquid chromatography and its applications

An efficient system for the analysis of indole alkaloids by HPLC on a reversed-phase column using an ion pair technique is described. The optimised chromatographic conditions allowed the successful separation of 22 standard monoterpenoid indole alkaloids (including some isomers) and tryptamine. The described HPLC system was applied to the analysis of alkaloids in intergeneric somatic hybrid cell cultures of Rauvolfia serpentina x Rhazya stricta.
Indole Diterpenoids from an Endophytic Penicillium sp.

A chemical investigation of the endophyte Penicillium sp. (strain ZO-R1-1), isolated from roots of the medicinal plant Zingiber officinale, yielded nine new indole diterpenoids (1-9), together with 13 known congeners (10-22). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by 1D and 2D NMR analysis in combination with HRESIMS data. The absolute configuration of the new natural products 1, 3, and 7 was determined using the TDDFT-ECD approach and confirmed for 1 by single-crystal X-ray determination through anomalous dispersion. Abstract The Ciona intestinalis inflammatory response to several irritants appears to be composed of a complex reaction set. The cellular reactions in the tunic involve hemocyte infiltration, hemocyte and epidermis activities, vacuolization, and cell disruption, while cell products can contribute to form capsule components and/or cause a tunic wound.
