The bioactive coating of calcium phosphate cement (CPC) is a promising approach to enhance the bone-healing properties of bone substitutes. The purpose of this study was to evaluate whether coating CPCs with bone sialoprotein (BSP) results in increased bone formation. Forty-five female C57BL/6NRj mice with an average age of six weeks were divided into three groups. Either a BSP-coated or an uncoated three-dimensional plotted scaffold was implanted into a drilled 2.7-mm diameter calvarial defect, or the defect was left empty (control group; no CPC). Polyphosphate as a Bioactive and Biodegradable Implant Material: Induction of Bone Regeneration in Rats

Inorganic polyphosphate (polyP) is a naturally occurring polymer that is bioresorbable and anabolically active on bone forming cells in vitro. In order to demonstrate if polyP also shows morphogenetic activity in vivo, animal studies are performed applying the rat calvarial defect model. Poly(D,L-lactide-co-glycolide) (PLGA) microspheres with a narrow size distribution (≈820 μm) are prepared, containing either encapsulated polyP or β-tricalcium phosphate (β-TCP), used as a reference material. En una época de cambios tecnológicos y sociales, la ciudadanía demanda nuevos canales de participación pública. En los últimos tiempos distintos procesos de participación recurren a la opinión ciudadana para adoptar decisiones. El movimiento de los chalecos amarillos desencadenó una ola de protestas en Francia a la que quiso hacerse frente con el Grand Débat National, un proceso participativo multicanal, a distintos niveles administrativos. El estudio de su desarrollo y resultados debe servir para diseñar futuros procesos similares.

Tutkimukseni kuvaa suunnitteluprosessia, jonka tuloksena syntyi luonnostelma ”Alvarin askelissa” teemalukuvuonna (2015–2016) käytettävistä arkkitehtuurikasvatuksen menetelmistä. Teemalukuvuosi johdattaa Seinäjoen kaupungin perusopetuksen 2., 5., 7. ja 8. luokkien oppilaita havainnoimaan ja tiedostamaan arkkitehtuurin ja rakennetun ympäristön merkitystä heidän omassa ympäristössään. Teemalukuvuoden keskiössä on Seinäjoen Alvar Aallon suunnittelema, kuusi rakennusta ja kansalaistorin käsittävä, arkkitehtoninen kokonaisuus, jota kutsutaan Aalto-keskukseksi. Tavoitteena on, että oppilaat oppivat tiedostamaan, että heidän kotikaupungissaan on maailmanlaajuisesti tunnetun arkkitehdin ainutlaatuin…
