Selective Cobalt over Nickel separation using neat and confined ionic liquids
2020
International audience; Task Specific Ionic Liquids (TSILs) generated by association between tetraalkylammonium cations and coordinating anions such as dicyanamide (Dca-) and thiocyanate (SCN-) were used for the selective separation of Ni(II) over Co(II). SCN-based TSIL presents higher extraction efficiency than the Dca-based one towards Co(II) (E = 85.4 % vs 54.6 %) and Ni (II) (E = 22 % vs 0.5%) but lower separation factors (βCo/Ni = 21 vs 239). Interestingly, extraction of Co(II) and Ni(II) in Dca-based TSIL can be enhanced using salts with chaotropic anions such as NaNO3 (E > 90 % for Co(II) and E = 85% for Ni(II)). The use of NaCl allows, moreover, the efficient separation of both ions…
Syntheses, crystal structures and magnetic properties of chromato-, sulfato-, and oxalato-bridged dinuclear copper(II) complexes
2000
Abstract Four dinuclear copper(II) complexes of formula [Cu2(bpca)2(H2O)3(CrO4)]·H2O (1), [Cu2(bpca)2(H2O)3(SO4)]·H2O (2), [Cu2(bpca)2(H2O)2(C2O4)]·2H2O (3), and [Cu2(bpca)2(C2O4)] (4) [bpca=bis(2-pyridylcarbonyl)amide anion] have been synthesized and their magnetic behavior has been investigated as a function of temperature. The structures of 1–3 have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction, whereas the structure of 4 was already known. The structures of this family of complexes are made up of neutral chromateO1,O1′ (1), sulfateO1,O1′ (2) and oxalateO1,O2:O1′,O2′-bridged (3 and 4) dinuclear copper(II) units. The two copper atoms within the dinuclear unit of the isomorphous c…
Titanium dioxide in dental enamel as a trace element and its variation with bleaching
2017
Background Titanium is a less studied trace element in dental enamel. Literature relates an increased Titanium concentration with a decreased enamel crystal domain size, which in turn is related to a higher color value. The aim of our study was to analyze the effect of tooth bleaching agents on its concentration in dental enamel by means of confocal Raman spectroscopy. Material and methods Human teeth were randomly distributed in six experimental groups (n=10) and submitted to different bleaching protocols according to the manufacturer´s instructions. Confocal Raman spectroscopy was carried out in order to identify and quantify the presence of titanium dioxide molecules in enamel prior to a…

S-type lectins occur also in invertebrates: high conservation of the carbohydrate recognition domain in the lectin genes from the marine sponge Geodi…
1993
The marine sponge Geodia cydonium contains several lectins. The main component, called lectin-1, is composed of three to four identical subunits. The subunits of the lectins were cloned from a cDNA library; two clones were obtained. From the deduced aa sequence of one clone, LECT-1, a mol. wt of 15,313 Da is calculated; this value is in good agreement with mass spectrometric analysis of 15,453 +/- 25 Da. The sequence of another clone, LECT-2, was analysed and the aa sequence was deduced (15,433 Da). The two subunits have a framework sequence of 38 conserved aa which are characteristic for the carbohydrate-binding site of vertebrate S-type lectins. Clustering of lectin sequences of various s…
Fabry Disease With Concomitant Lewy Body Disease
2019
AbstractAlthough Gaucher disease can be accompanied by Lewy pathology (LP) and extrapyramidal symptoms, it is unknown if LP exists in Fabry disease (FD), another progressive multisystem lysosomal storage disorder. We aimed to elucidate the distribution patterns of FD-related inclusions and LP in the brain of a 58-year-old cognitively unimpaired male FD patient suffering from predominant hypokinesia. Immunohistochemistry (CD77, α-synuclein, collagen IV) and neuropathological staging were performed on 100-µm sections. Tissue from the enteric or peripheral nervous system was unavailable. As controls, a second cognitively unimpaired 50-year-old male FD patient without LP or motor symptoms and 3…
Conformational investigation of α,β‐dehydropeptides. XV: N‐acetyl‐α,β‐dehydroamino acid N ′N ′‐dimethylamides: conformational properties from infrare…
2005
The FTIR spectra were analysed in the region of the nu(s)(N-H), AI(C=O) and nu(s)(Calpha=Cbeta) bands for a series of Ac-DeltaXaa-NMe2, where DeltaXaa = DeltaAla, (Z)-DeltaAbu, (Z)-DeltaLeu, (Z)-DeltaPhe and DeltaVal, to determine a predominant solution conformation of these alpha,beta-dehydropeptide-related molecules. Measurements were taken in CCl4, DCM and MeCN solutions. In the same way, spectra of saturated analogues Ac-Xaa-NMe2, where Xaa = Ala, Abu, Leu, Phe and Val, were investigated. To help interpret the spectroscopic results, conformational maps were calculated by the B3LYP/6-31+G** method. Also, the relative energies of all conformers of the dehydro compounds in vacuo as well as…
Partial thioamide scan on the lipopeptaibiotic trichogin GA IV. Effects on folding and bioactivity
2012
Backbone modification is a common chemical tool to control the conformation of linear peptides and to explore potentially useful effects on their biochemical and biophysical properties. The thioamide, ψ[CS-NH], group is a nearly isosteric structural mimic of the amide (peptide) functionality. In this paper, we describe the solution synthesis, chemical characterization, preferred conformation, and membrane and biological activities of three, carefully selected, peptide analogues of the lipopeptaibiotic [Leu11-OMe] trichogin GA IV. In each analogue, a single thioamide replacement was incorporated. Sequence positions near the N-terminus, at the center, and near the C-terminus were investigated…
Crystal structure of (E)-4-methyl-N-{2-[2-(4-nitrobenzylidene)hydrazin-1-yl]-2-oxoethyl}benzenesulfonamideN,N-dimethylformamide monosolvate
2017
The molecule of the title Schiff base compound, C16H16N4O5S·C3H7NO, displays atransconformation with respect to the C=N double bond. The C—N and N—N bonds are relatively short compared to their normal bond lengths, indicating some degree of delocalization in the molecule. The molecule is bent at the S atom, with an S—N—C—C torsion angle of 164.48 (11)°. The dihedral angle between the two aromatic rings is 84.594 (7)°. Intermolecular N—H...O and C —H...O hydrogen bonds connect centrosymmetrically related molecules into dimers forming rings ofR33(11) andR22(10) graph-set motif stacked along theaaxis into a columnar arrangement. The molecular columns are further linked into a three-dimensional…
Effects of plant type and calcium cyanamide dosage on yield, nutritional and nutraceutical traits of strawberry in Sicily
2021
In the Mediterranean area, strawberry is usually set up by using bare-rooted plants, fresh plug plants or cold-stored plants, achieving different fruit ripening earliness and crop performance. Strawberry plants can be combined with various cultivation practices to improve strawberry fruit production and quality. Calcium cyanamide (CaCN2) is well-acknowledged as a fertilizer used in the horticulture sector. Its use can enhance the soil fertility, prevent soil acidification, and improve crop production and fruit quality. This work evaluated the effects of different pre-transplant CaCN2 dosages on bare-rooted plants, fresh plug plants or cold-stored plants. Coldstored plants with 400 kg ha(-1)…
