Quantifying both ammonium and proline in wines and beer by using a PDMS composite for sensoring.

2019

Abstract Two of the reagents involved in the Berthelot's reaction, thymol and nitroprusside, were embedded in a PDMS composite in order to apply this assay to determine ammonium and proline, in wine and beers. Safety, portability, rapidity, cost-effectiveness and simplicity of the assay were improved. For the proline determination, a modified Berthelot's reaction, which included a ring cleavage of proline, was optimized. The accuracy of the assay was tested. The limits of detection for ammonium was 0.12 µg mL−1 and for proline was in the range from 0.7 to 4.1 µg mL−1, depending on the kind of wine (white, red, or sweet), for beer the LOD was 6 µg mL−1. The precision achieved was slower than…

The biological activity of bacteriophage DNA, prepared by the cationic detergent dilution technique

1975

Abstract The preparation of phage lambda DNA infecting E. coli K 12 with cationic detergent is described. This DNA infects E. coli spheroblasts with the same efficiency as DNA prepared by phenol methods.

Hybrid Chelator-Based PSMA Radiopharmaceuticals: Translational Approach

2021

(1) Background: Prostate-specific membrane antigen (PSMA) has been extensively studied in the last decade. It became a promising biological target in the diagnosis and therapy of PSMA-expressing cancer diseases. Although there are several radiolabeled PSMA inhibitors available, the search for new compounds with improved pharmacokinetic properties and simplified synthesis is still ongoing. In this study, we developed PSMA ligands with two different hybrid chelators and a modified linker. Both compounds have displayed a promising pharmacokinetic profile. (2) Methods: DATA5m.SA.KuE and AAZTA5.SA.KuE were synthesized. DATA5m.SA.KuE was labeled with gallium-68 and radiochemical yields of various…

Purification of Large Cytosolic Proteases for In Vitro Assays: 20S and 26S Proteasomes

2012

Proteasomes are the main cytosolic proteases responsible for generating peptides for antigen processing and presentation in the MHC (major histocompatibility complex) class-I pathway. Purified 20S and 26S proteasomes have been widely used to study both specificity and efficiency of antigen processing. Here, we describe the purification of active human 20S and 26S proteasomes from human erythrocytes by DEAE-ion exchange chromatography, ammonium sulfate precipitation, glycerol density gradient centrifugation, and Superose-6 size exclusion chromatography and their characterization using fluorogenic substrates and specific inhibitors.

Synthesis of MoO3 Nanostructures and Their Facile Conversion to MoS2 Fullerenes and Nanotubes.

2007

The fast thermolysis of ammonium molybdate leads to a mixture of MoO3 and Mo5.3O14.5(OH)2.8(H2O)1.36 with spherical and rod-like morphologies. The oxide mixture can be converted in quantitative yield to inorganic fullerene-type (IF) MoS2 and MoS2 nanotubes (NT) by H2S reduction using a facile and quick procedure. The products were studied by X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) and by Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM). TEM analysis reveals that the spherical and rod-like morphology of the oxide precursor is preserved during the H2S treatment.

Structure and properties of tris(tetramethylammonium) nonabromodiarsenate(III), [(CH3)4N]3[As2Br9]

2007

The new tetramethylammonium bromoarsenate(III) crystal [(CH3)4N]3 [As2Br9] has been synthesized and its phase behaviour established by differential scanning calorimetry and dilatometry. Three phase transitions are found: at 346/346 K , at 165/171 K and at 157/165 K on cooling/heating. Single-crystal x-ray diffraction studies of phases I (at 370 K) and II (at 298 K) have shown that the structure comprises discrete [As2Br9]3− anions and disordered [(CH3)4N]+ cations. Phase II crystallizes in the polar space group P31c; its polar nature was confirmed by pyroelectric measurements. Phase I has higher symmetry, P63mc or . Dielectric dispersion measurements revealed a relaxation process in the cry…

Determination of New Radical Species in Ammonium Tartrate Dosimeters by CW- and Pulsed-EPR Techniques

2015

Samples of ammonium tartrate irradiated with doses of about 0.1–1 kGy by different beams of ionizing radiation (60Co–γ, 19 MeV protons and 62 MeV per nucleon carbon ions) were studied by continuous-wave electron paramagnetic resonance (cw-EPR) and by pulse-EPR techniques. Careful analysis of the cw-EPR and of the echo-detected EPR spectra allowed the identification of a second radical in the system besides the already known radical formed at high temperature by an hydrogen elimination at C(2) position [M. Brustolon et al., Res. Chem. Int 4:359, 1996]. The spectrum of the radical is compatible with that of a radical obtained by hydroxyl elimination.
