Final State Interaction Effects in Incoherent Pion Photoproduction on the Deuteron

In the present work [1] incoherent photoproduction of pions on the deuteron in the Δ(1232) resonance region is investigated where besides the impulse approximation (IA) complete two-body rescattering in the nucleon-nucleon (NN) and pion-nucleon (πN) final state subsystems is included (see Fig. 1). The elementary γN → πN amplitude including Born and Δ(1232) resonance contributions is taken from previous work of [2].

Entanglement robustness via spatial deformation of identical particle wave functions

We address the problem of entanglement protection against surrounding noise by a procedure suitably exploiting spatial indistinguishability of identical subsystems. To this purpose, we take two initially separated and entangled identical qubits interacting with two independent noisy environments. Three typical models of environments are considered: amplitude damping channel, phase damping channel and depolarizing channel. After the interaction, we deform the wave functions of the two qubits to make them spatially overlap before performing spatially localized operations and classical communication (sLOCC) and eventually computing the entanglement of the resulting state. Investigating the nature of light scalar mesons with semileptonic decays of D mesons

We study the semileptonic decays of $D_{s}^{+}$, $D^{+}$, and $D^{0}$ mesons into the light scalar mesons [$f_{0} (500)$, $K_{0}^{\ast} (800)$, $f_{0} (980)$, and $a_{0}(980)$] and the light vector mesons [$\rho (770)$, $\omega (782)$, $K^{\ast} (892)$, and $\phi (1020)$]. With the help of a chiral unitarity approach in coupled channels, we compute the branching fractions for scalar meson processes of the semileptonic $D$ decays in a simple way. Using current known values of the branching fractions, we make predictions for the branching fractions of the semileptonic decay modes with other scalar and vector mesons. Direct limits on the $B_s^0$ oscillation frequency

No. of bitstreams: 0 Previous issue date: 2006-01-01 We report results of a study of the Bs0 oscillation frequency using a large sample of Bs0 semileptonic decays corresponding to approximately 1fb-1 of integrated luminosity collected by the D0 experiment at the Fermilab Tevatron Collider in 2002-2006. The amplitude method gives a lower limit on the Bs0 oscillation frequency at 14.8ps-1 at the 95% C.L. At Δms=19ps-1, the amplitude deviates from the hypothesis A=0 (1) by 2.5 (1.6) standard deviations, corresponding to a two-sided C.L. of 1% (10%). A likelihood scan over the oscillation frequency, Δms, gives a most probable value of 19ps…

Population trapping due to cavity losses

2008

In population trapping the occupation of a decaying quantum level keeps a constant non-zero value. We show that an atom-cavity system interacting with an environment characterized by a non-flat spectrum, in the non-Markovian limit, exhibits such a behavior, effectively realizing the preservation of nonclassical states against dissipation. Our results allow to understand the role of cavity losses in hybrid solid state systems and pave the way to the proper description of leakage in the recently developed cavity quantum electrodynamic systems.

On PD mechanisms at high temperature in voids included in an epoxy resin

In this paper the effects of temperature on partial discharge (PD) activity taking place inside a spherical void in epoxy resin system are studied. Indeed, some experimental tests previously performed on specimens, having different void shapes, under multi-stress condition of temperature and voltage, have shown very different PD amplitude distributions at temperatures higher than ambient. However, this phenomenon cannot be explained only by taking into account the different thermobaric conditions of the enclosed gas. Measuring tourism from demand side

This Paper proposes an analysis of tourism from the demand side, taking into account for both the total level of tourism demand produced by some European countries (domestic and outgoing) and its general tendency, and for the seasonal fluctuations which characterize many tourism-related aggregates. Tourist flows from the demand side at the European level are analyzed in the last decade, and a special focus on Italian tourism demand is provided, jointly with an analysis of its seasonal fluctuations. The analysis of general tendency of tourism demand and of the impacts of seasonality is a fundamental pre-requisite for the implementation of tourism policies.

ββ2ν decay in 48Ca

[EN] A schematic study of the bb2n decay of 48Ca is made in a shell-model approach. The emphasis is especially put on the role of the spin-orbit potential in relation with the contribution of other terms in the strong interaction. This is discussed with a particular attention to the behavior of these ones under the SU(4) symmetry. Different methods in calculating the transition amplitude are also looked at with the aim to determine their reliability and, eventually, why they do not work. Further aspects relative to the failure of the operator expansion method to reproduce the results of more elaborate calculations are examined.
