Ten millennia of hepatitis B virus evolution

2021

Hepatitis B virus (HBV) has been infecting humans for millennia and remains a global health problem, but its past diversity and dispersal routes are largely unknown. We generated HBV genomic data from 137 Eurasians and Native Americans dated between ~10,500 and ~400 years ago. We date the most recent common ancestor of all HBV lineages to between ~20,000 and 12,000 years ago, with the virus present in European and South American hunter-gatherers during the early Holocene. After the European Neolithic transition, Mesolithic HBV strains were replaced by a lineage likely disseminated by early farmers that prevailed throughout western Eurasia for ~4000 years, declining around the end of the 2nd…

Molecular analysis ofPhytophthoradiversity in nursery-grown ornamental and fruit plants

2015

The genetic diversity of Phytophthora spp. was investigated in potted ornamental and fruit tree species. A metabarcoding approach was used, based on a semi-nested PCR with Phytophthora genus-specific primers targeting the ITS1 region of the rDNA. More than 50 ITS1 sequence types representing at least 15 distinct Phytophthora taxa were detected. Nine had ITS sequences that grouped them in defined taxonomic groups (P. nicotianae, P. citrophthora, P. meadii, P. taxon Pgchlamydo, P. cinnamomi, P. parvispora, P. cambivora, P. niederhauserii and P. lateralis) whereas three phylotypes were associated to two or more taxa (P. citricola taxon E or III; P. pseudosyringae, P. ilicis or P. nemorosa; and…

Untersuchungen zur Mehrfach-Emission von Sekundrelektronen

1964

CuBe- and NaCl-targets are bombarded by single electrons (100–600 eV). The secondary electrons accelerated by 40 kV strike the crystal of a scintillation counter, backed by a multichannel analyser. The probabilityP n of emission ofn=0, 1, 2, 3, ... secondaries can be found from the pulse height distribution. The probability distributionP n =f(n) shows a characteristic deviation from aPoisson's distribution. There was no evidence that there is a preference for even numbers ofn as found byBarrington andAnderson.

On the Multipeakon Dissipative Behavior of the Modified Coupled Camassa-Holm Model for Shallow Water System

2013

Published version of an article in the journal: Mathematical Problems in Engineering. Also available from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1155/2013/107450 Open Access This paper investigates the multipeakon dissipative behavior of the modified coupled two-component Camassa-Holm system arisen from shallow water waves moving. To tackle this problem, we convert the original partial differential equations into a set of new differential equations by using skillfully defined characteristic and variables. Such treatment allows for the construction of the multipeakon solutions for the system. The peakon-antipeakon collisions as well as the dissipative behavior (energy loss) after wave breaki…

Nachweis der Mehrfachemission von Sekundrelektronen mittels Proportionalzhlrohr

1965

A proportional counter is used as analyser for electron energies (in the range 10 to 20 keV). The resolving power for 20 keV is 21%. The multiple emission of secondary electrons is investigated with this counter.

Zur Sekundrelektronenemission durch Argonionen und Argonatome im Energiebereich von 1 bis 20 keV

1966

Be-, CuBe-, Cu- and Al-targets are bombarded by single A+ and A0 in the energy range from 1 to 20 keV. The secondary electrons accelerated by 20 keV are counted by a proportional counter backed by a multichannel analyser. The probability distributionPn of emission ofn=0,1, 2, 3, ... secondary electrons can be found from the pulse height distribution. WhenPn is known the yield for A+ and A0 can be calculated. The counting of neutrals in the energy range investigated is discussed.

Electron-TOF-analyser for complete momentum analysis in photoemission from surfaces

2001

Abstract We present a new method for momentum-selective imaging by means of a time-of-flight (TOF) technique. The instrument employs a time- and space-resolving delayline detector in combination with a parabolic electrostatic field and a drift space. We use this kind of spectrometer, to raise the efficiency of experiments, which are total momentum resolved. The main difference to conventional photoemission experiments using a rotatable spectrometer is the simultaneous detection of all emitted photoelectrons. In addition to this feature, the angular distribution should be directly visible, to observe solid state symmetries. In order to facilitate these requirements, we use a delayline detect…

Finite Frequency Vibration Control for Polytopic Active Suspensions via Dynamic Output Feedback

2013

This paper presents a disturbance attenuation strategy for active suspension systems with frequency band constraints, where dynamic output feedback control is employed in consideration that not all the state variables can be measured on-line. In view of the fact that human are sensitive to the virbation between 4–8 Hz in vertical direction, the control based on generalized Kalman-Yakubovich-Popov (KYP) lemma is developed in this specific frequency, in order to achieve the targeted disturbance attenuation. Moreover, practical constraints required in active suspension design are guaranteed in the whole time domain. At the end of the paper, the outstanding performance of the system using finit…
