Health communication in covid-19 era: Experiences from the italian vaccinarsì network websites
2021
In 2013, in a bid to combat Vaccine Hesitancy (VH) and provide information on vaccines by communicating with the general public and the health community (e.g., healthcare workers and public health operators), the Italian Society of Hygiene and Preventive Medicine (S.It.I.) published the national website “VaccinarSì”. The project was subsequently extended to ten Italian Regions. This led to the creation of the VaccinarSì Network, whose websites are publicly owned. The aim of this work was to present the framework of the websites of the VaccinarSì Network and to analyse user behaviour in the pre-COVID-19-era (dating from each website’s publication until 31 January 2020) and in the COVID-19-er…
Big Data in operations and supply chain management: a systematic literature review and future research agenda
2021
In the era of digitalisation, the role of Big Data is proliferating, receiving considerable attention in all sectors and domains. The domain of operations and supply chain management (OSCM) is no different since it offers multiple opportunities to generate a large magnitude of data in real-time. Such extensive opportunities for data generation have attracted academics and practitioners alike who are eager to tap different elements of Big Data application in OSCM. Despite the richness of prior studies, there is limited research that extensively reviews the extant findings to present an overview of the different facets of this area. The current study addresses this gap by conducting a systema…
Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML) Representation of Bayesian Networks: An Application in Manufacturing
2018
International audience; Bayesian networks (BNs) represent a promising approach for the aggregation of multiple uncertainty sources in manufacturing networks and other engineering systems for the purposes of uncertainty quantification, risk analysis, and quality control. A standardized representation for BN models will aid in their communication and exchange across the web. This article presents an extension to the predictive model markup language (PMML) standard for the representation of a BN, which may consist of discrete variables, continuous variables, or their combination. The PMML standard is based on extensible markup language (XML) and used for the representation of analytical models…
Opportunities for the Use of Business Data Analysis Technologies
2016
Abstract The paper analyses the business data analysis technologies, provides their classification and considers relevant terminology. The feasibility of business data analysis technologies handling big data sources is overviewed. The paper shows the results of examination of the online big data source analytics technologies, data mining and predictive modelling technologies and their trends.
Model-based Engineering for the Integration of Manufacturing Systems with Advanced Analytics
2016
To employ data analytics effectively and efficiently on manufacturing systems, engineers and data scientists need to collaborate closely to bring their domain knowledge together. In this paper, we introduce a domain-specific modeling approach to integrate a manufacturing system model with advanced analytics, in particular neural networks, to model predictions. Our approach combines a set of meta-models and transformation rules based on the domain knowledge of manufacturing engineers and data scientists. Our approach uses a model of a manufacturing process and its associated data as inputs, and generates a trained neural network model as an output to predict a quantity of interest. This pape…
Towards Shipping 4.0. A preliminary gap analysis
2020
Abstract The paradigm of Industry 4.0 involves a substantial innovation to the value creation approach thought the supply chain and the application of digital enabling technologies like the Internet of Things (IoT), Big Data Analytics (BDA) and cloud computing. The fourth industrial revolution is thus expected to have a disruptive impact on maritime transport and shipping sectors, where smart ships and autonomous vessels well be part of a new and fully interconnected maritime ecosystem. Specific hardware components, such as sensors, actuators, or processors will be embedded in the ship’s key systems in order to provide valuable information to increase the efficiency, sustainability and safe…

Methods for RNA Modification Mapping Using Deep Sequencing: Established and New Emerging Technologies
2019
New analytics of post-transcriptional RNA modifications have paved the way for a tremendous upswing of the biological and biomedical research in this field. This especially applies to methods that included RNA-Seq techniques, and which typically result in what is termed global scale modification mapping. In this process, positions inside a cell`s transcriptome are receiving a status of potential modification sites (so called modification calling), typically based on a score of some kind that issues from the particular method applied. The resulting data are thought to represent information that goes beyond what is contained in typical transcriptome data, and hence the field has taken to use …

Nonverbal synchrony between individuals has a robust relation to the positive aspects of relationships. In psychotherapy, where talking is the cure, nonverbal synchrony has been related to a positive outcome of therapy and to a stronger therapeutic alliance between therapist and client in dyadic settings. Only a few studies have focused on nonverbal synchrony in multi-actor therapy conversations. Here, we studied the synchrony of head and body movements in couple therapy, with four participants present (spouses and two therapists). We analyzed more than 2000min of couple therapy videos from 11 couple therapy cases using Motion Energy Analysis and a Surrogate Synchrony (SUSY), a procedure us…
Assessing Teacher’s Discourse Effect on Students’ Learning: A Keyword Centrality Approach
2020
The way that content-related keywords co-occur along a lesson seems to play an important role in concept understanding and, therefore, in students’ performance. Thus, network-like structures have been used to represent and summarize conceptual knowledge, particularly in science areas. Previous work has automated the process of producing concept networks, computed different properties of these networks, and studied the correlation of these properties with students’ achievement. This work presents an automated analysis of teachers’ concept graphs, the distribution of relevance amongst content-related keywords and how this affects students’ achievement. Particularly, we automatically extracted…
