Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia: report of 4 cases with immunohistochemical findings.

Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH) is a benign endothelial proliferation, usually intravascular, that may mimic angiosarcoma. In this report, four new cases of IPEH involving the oral region are described. The affected sites were the lower lip, labial comissure and the submandibular region. After clinical evaluation, the complete removal of the lesions showed a circumscribed and soft mass. Histologically, the major feature was a reactive proliferation of endothelial cells composed of small papillary structures with hypocellular and hyalinized cores arising in an organized thrombus. Establishment and Characterization of an Angiosarcoma-Derived Cell Line, AS-M

A novel human endothelial cell line, AS-M, has been established from a cutaneous angiosarcoma on the scalp. The cells expressing platelet endothelial cell adhesion molecule-1 (CD31) were isolated using magnetic beads and subsequently cultured for a year. To date, the cells have undergone more than 100 population doublings (PDs). Angiosarcomas (ASs) are aggressive tumors of vascular endothelial origin, occurring sporadically or in association with prior radiotherapy or chronic lymphedema. With only 1-5% of all sarcomas, the incidence seems low, but for the affected patient due to the extremely poor prognosis and the limited treatment options, the fate is often inevitable. Cytogenetic study of angiosarcoma of the breast.

Angiosarcoma of the breast is quite rare, and the development of cutaneous angiosarcoma after segmental mastectomy and radiation therapy is even less common. A cytogenetic analysis of a mammary angiosarcoma arising in a breast after previous irradiation and segmental mastectomy for infiltrating ductal carcinoma revealed multiple clonal rearrangements involving chromosomes X, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 15, 17, 20, and 22. Bone metastases in soft tissue sarcoma: a survey of natural history, prognostic value and treatment options

Abstract Background We surveyed the natural history of bone metastases in patients affected by soft tissue sarcoma (STS). Methods This multicenter retrospective observational study included 135 patients. Histological subtype, characteristics of bone metastases, treatment, skeletal related events (SREs) and disease outcome were recorded. Results The most represented histological subtypes were leiomyosarcoma (27%) angiosarcoma (13%) and undifferentiated sarcoma (8%). Axial skeleton was the most common site for bone involvement (70%).
