Surface plasmon interference excited by tightly focused laser beams

2007

International audience; We show that interfering surface plasmon polaritons can be excited with a focused laser beam at normal incidence to a plane metal film. No protrusions or holes are needed in this excitation scheme. Depending on the axial position of the focus, the intensity distribution on the metal surface is either dominated by interferences between counterpropagating plasmons or by a two-lobe pattern characteristic of localized surface plasmon excitation. Our experiments can be accurately explained by use of the angular spectrum representation and provide a simple means for locally exciting standing surface plasmon polaritons.

Searching for signatures around 1920 MeV of a N-* state of three hadron nature

We provide a series of arguments which support the idea that the peak seen in the gamma p -> K+ Lambda reaction around 1920 MeV should correspond to the recently predicted state of J(P) = 1/2(+) as a bound state of K(K) over bar N with a mixture of alpha(0)(980)N and f(0)(980)N components. At the same time we propose polarization experiments in that reaction as a further test of the prediction, as well as a study of the total cross-section for gamma p -> K(+)K(-)p at energies close to threshold and of d sigma/dM(inv) for invariant masses close to the two-kaon threshold.

Search for intermediate mass black hole binaries in the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo network

Gravitational wave astronomy has been firmly established with the detection of gravitational waves from the merger of ten stellar mass binary black holes and a neutron star binary. This paper reports on the all-sky search for gravitational waves from intermediate mass black hole binaries in the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo network. The search uses three independent algorithms: two based on matched filtering of the data with waveform templates of gravitational wave signals from compact binaries, and a third, model-independent algorithm that employs no signal model for the incoming signal. Budžeta prognozēšanas un izpildes kontroles sistēma ļauj lietotājiem prognozēt un plānot uzņēmuma budžetu, kā arī sekot tā izpildei. Tās galvenais mērķis ir palīdzēt uzņēmuma vadībai būt informētiem par finanšu stāvokli un efektīvi izmantot uzņēmuma naudas līdzekļus. Sistēmas izstrādāšana vēl nav pabeigta, bet ir realizētā tās galvenā funkcionalitāte, kura ir aprakstīta šī darba ietvaros. Turklāt šī sistēma tiek aktīvi izmantota uzņēmuma (“Client Line”, SIA) vajadzībām. Sistēma tiek izstrādātā pēc spējās programmatūras izstrādes pieejas un programmprodukts ir sadalīts divās daļās – fasāde (frontend – Angular.js) un aizmugure (backend – Java, MSSQL, Glassfish).

Detection and orientation evaluation for three-dimensional objects

This paper presents a novel method for detection and orientation evaluation for three-dimensional (3-D) objects based on range images. It is based on the calculation of the phase Fourier transform of the 3-D object range image. The method permits the estimation of the angular position of the object. It works with rotations around an axis perpendicular to the line of sight, although it exhibits a certain nodding tolerance. Simulated results demonstrate the ability of the new introduced method.

Sensorless control of permanent magnet synchronous motors for wide speed range applications

This paper deals with sensorless control of Interior Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (IPMS) based on the estimation of speed and rotor angular position. The above estimate is based on the injection of high frequency stator currents able to generate a signal similar to that generated by a resolver connected to the axis of the motor. A new digital algorithm has been designed to demodulate the above signal whose implementation can be carried out on the same DSP that processes the control algorithm.
