Influence of structural factors and enzyme type on the reactivity and enantioselectivity of the enzymatic esterification of bicyclic meso dialcohols
1992
The meso dialcohols 1–7, obtained from the Diels-Alder adducts furan/maleic anhydride, furan/dimethyl acetylenedi-carboxylate, and cyclopentadiene/maleic anhydride, were subjected to enzymatic esterification in organic solvents. A mixture of the corresponding chiral monoacetates and the meso diacetates was obtained. It has been found that reaction rate and enantioselectivity markedly depend on substrate structure, temperature, enzyme type, and nature of the solvent. The presence of an oxygen bridge and an exo configuration are the two structural features which lead to the highest enantioselectivity values.
Succinate-bonded pullulan: An efficient and reusable super-sorbent for cadmium-uptake from spiked high-hardness groundwater.
2015
Abstract Chemically modified pullulan was evaluated for its sorption efficiency and selectivity to remove cadmium (Cd) from spiked high-hardness groundwater (GW). Pullulan esterified with succinic anhydride using dimethylaminopyridine showed a fairly high degree of substitution value as confirmed by 1 H NMR spectroscopy. Pullulan succinate (Pull-Suc) was converted into the sodium salt (Pull-Suc-Na). The effect of contact time (5–200 min) and pH (2–8) on Cd-uptake by the sorbent (Pull-Suc-Na) was investigated. The sorbent showed more than 90% Cd-removal in first 15 min from distilled water (DW) and GW solution, respectively. Comparison of Pull-Suc-Na with other polysaccharidal sorbents sugge…
Bias and humidity effects on the ammonia sensing of perylene derivative/lutetium bisphthalocyanine MSDI heterojunctions
2016
International audience; In this paper, we prepared and studied sensors based on Molecular Semiconductor-Doped Insulator (MSDI) heterojunctions. These original devices are built with two stacked layers of molecular materials and exhibit very specific electrical and sensing properties. We studied the properties of a MSDI composed of the perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride, PTCDA, or the fluorinated perylenebisimine derivative, C4F7-PTCDI, as n-type molecular material sublayers, and LuPc2 as a p-type semiconductor top layer. Their response to ammonia was compared to that of a resistor formed of only the top layer of the MSDI (LuPc2). Ammonia increases the current in the MSDIs whereas it causes…
Acetylation of 5-Amino-1H-[1,2,4]triazole Revisited
2002
The products of the acetylation reactions of the common herbicide 5-amino-1H-[1,2,4]triazole were investigated using HPLC, GC-MS, 1H NMR, and FTIR spectroscopy. The conventional annular monoacetylation procedures with acetyl chloride are not regioselective and furnish a mixture of isomers. Traditional diacetylation in neat acetic anhydride under reflux produces a mixture of di-, mono-, and triacetylated derivatives. By using equivalent amounts of acetic anhydride in a dimethylformamide solution, a rapid and selective annular monoacetylation of 5-amino-1H-[1,2,4]triazole was achieved. The monoacetylation proceeds via the formation of the intermediate, 1-acetyl-3-amino-1H-[1,2,4]triazole, whi…
DIFFERENTIAL SCANNING CALORIMETRY STUDY ON DRUG RELEASE FROM AN INULIN-BASED HYDROGEL AND ITS INTERACTION WITH A BIOMEMBRANE MODEL:pH AND LOADING EFF…
2008
Inulin has been derivatized with methacrylic anhydride (MA) and succinic anhydride (SA) to obtain a methacrylated/succinilated derivative (INU-MA-SA) able to produce a pH sensitive hydrogel after UV irradiation. The hydrogel was characterized and loaded with diflunisal (10.4, 17 and 24%, w/w) chosen as a model drug. The drug release from INU-MA-SA-based hydrogel to a biomembrane model made by unilamellar vesicles of dimyristoylphosphatidyl-choline (DMPC) was investigated at pH 4.0 and 7.4 by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) that appears to be a suitable technique to follow the transfer kinetics of a drug from a controlled release system to a biomembrane model. The drug release from t…
Inulin-iron complexes: a potential treatment of iron deficiency anaemia.
2007
The aim of this work was that to synthesize macromolecular derivatives based on inulin able to complex iron and useful in the treatment of iron deficiency anaemia. Carboxylated or thiolated/carboxylated inulin derivatives were obtained by single or double step reactions, respectively. The first one was obtained by reaction of inulin (INU) with succinic anhydride (SA) alone obtaining INU-SA derivative; the second one was obtained by the reaction of INU with succinic anhydride and subsequent reaction of INU-SA with cysteine; both derivatives were treated with ferric chloride in order to obtain the INU-SA-Fe(III) and INU-SA-Cys-Fe(III) complexes. Both complexes showed an excellent biodegradabi…
Pegylated nanoparticles based on a polyaspartamide. Preparation, physico-chemical characterization and intracellular uptake
2006
Nanoparticles with different surface PEGylation degree were prepared by using as starting material alpha,beta-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-d,l-aspartamide (PHEA). PHEA was functionalized with a PEG amino-derivative for obtaining PHEA-PEG(2000) copolymer. Both PHEA and PHEA-PEG(2000) were derivatized with methacrylic anhydride (MA) for obtaining poly(hydroxyethylaspartamide methacrylated) (PHM) and poly(hydroxyethylaspartamide methacrylated)-PEGylated (PHM-PEG(2000)), respectively. Nanoparticles were obtained by UV irradiation of an inverse microemulsion, using as internal phase an aqueous solution of PHM alone or of the PHM/PHM-PEG(2000) mixture at different weight ratio and as external phase a m…
DOTAGA-anhydride: a valuable building block for the preparation of DOTA-like chelating agents.
2012
International audience; A DOTA derivative that contains an anhydride group was readily synthesized by reacting DOTAGA with acetic anhydride and its reactivity was investigated. Opening the anhydride with propylamine led to the selective formation of one of two possible regioisomers. The structure of the obtained isomer was unambiguously determined by 1D and 2D NMR experiments, including COSY, HMBC, and NOESY techniques. This bifunctional chelating agent offers a convenient and attractive approach for labeling biomolecules and, more generally, for the synthesis of a large range of DOTA derivatives. The scope of the reaction was extended to prepare DOTA-like compounds that contained various f…
Studies on vinblastine-induced autophagocytosis in mouse liver
1980
The origin of the membranes of autophagic vacuoles (AV) and acquisition of acid phosphatase into AV's were studied in vinblastine-induced autophagocytosis (VBL, 50 mg/kg, i.p.) in mouse hepatocytes. Using unbuffered OsO4, very intense staining was observed in the outer cisternae of the Golgi apparatus and also frequently in the cavity between the double membranes obviously destined to form AV's as well as in the cavity between the double membranes of newly formed AV's. There may occur a transformation process in the membranes limiting an AV analogous to that observed at the Golgi cisternae. The transformation of the outer AV membrane occurs independently of fusion with lysosomes. Inosine di…
Nanoaggregates Based on New Poly-Hydroxyethyl-Aspartamide Copolymers for Oral Insulin Absorption
2013
The aim of this work was to produce copolymers with an appropriate hydrophilic/hydrophobic balance able to form nanoaggregates with protein molecules and to be used as ideal materials in the field of oral peptide/protein delivery. New anionic polymers obtained by the conjugation of carboxy-bearing ligands, like succinic anhydride and/or cysteine, to hydrophobized α,β-poly(N-2-hydroxyethyl)-dl-aspartamide (PHEA) copolymers have been synthesized and characterized. Starting copolymer was synthesized by the partial derivatization of hydroxyl groups on the PHEA backbone with butylamine (C4) (obtaining the PHEA-C4 copolymer, bearing a butyl moiety). The consecutive reaction of PHEA-C4 with succin…
