The use of food supplements in conservation biological control (CBC) programmes is considered an essential element for increasing parasitoid fitness and their population density leading to an increase in overall parasitism levels. However, non-crop habitats that substitute the necessary resources for natural enemies have not always achieved the desired effects. New planar polynitrile dianion and its first coordination polymer with unexpected short M⋯M contacts (tcno2−=[(NC)2CC(O)C(CN)2]2−)

International audience; A new planar polynitrile dianion ([tcno]2− = [(NC)2CC(O)C(CN)2]2−) has been synthesized as its potassium salt, K2[tcno] (1). The crystallization of 1 by the slow evaporation of an aqueous solution at room temperature gave two types of colourless crystals having two different shapes [1-A: fine plates and 1-B: needles] for which the crystal structure determinations showed similar geometries for the polynitrile anion in both the structures. The combination of this novel dianion with Cu(II) led to the coordination complex [Cu(tcno)2(H2O)2] (2), which constitutes the first coordination complex of this dianion. Poly(ethylene-alt-propylene)-block-polyethylethylene-block-polystyrene (PEP-b-PEE-b-PS) triblock copolymers were synthesized by anionic polymerization and subsequent hydrogenation of poly-1,4-isoprene-block-poly-1,2-butadiene-block-polystyrene triblock copolymers (1,4PI-b-1,2PB-b-PS). Differential scanning calorimetry and dynamic mechanical spectroscopy reveal an order-order transition which is induced by the mixing of PEP and PEE above their respective order-disorder transition (ODT).

A new polymeric approach, based on cyanocarbanion ligands, for the design of spin crossover (SCO) compounds led us to the compound [Fe(abpt)2(tcpd)] (1) (tcpd^2 = (C[C(CN)2|3)^2 , abpt = 4-amino-3,5-bis(pyridin-2-yl)-1,2,4-triazole) which has been characterised as the first SCO molecular chain involving a cyanocarbanion as bridging ligand. Cascade complex formation by phosphate in the cobalt(II)/[30]aneN10 anaerobic system

Abstract The interaction of phosphate with the mono- and binuclear cobalt(II) complexes of [30]aneN 10 (1,4,7,10,13,16,19,22,25,28-decaazacyclotriacontane) has been studied by potentiometry in 0.15 mol dm −3 NaClO 4 solution at 298.15 K under anaerobic conditions. The stable species [CoH 2 ([30]aneN 10 )PO 4 ] + , [CoH 4 ([30]aneN 10 )PO 4 ] 3+ , [Co 2 H([30]aneN 10 )PO 4 ] 2+ , [Co 2 H 2 ([30]aneN 10 )PO 4 ] 3+ and [Co 2 H 3 ([30]aneN 10 )PO 4 ] 4+ , where the phosphate anion is directly bound to the metal ions or acts as a second sphere ligand, are formed and their stability constants have been determined.
