Il saggio si propone di mettere in evidenza alcune caratteristiche (compositive, ideologico-politiche, retorico-stilistiche) dei «Gesta Roberti Wiscardi» di Guglielmo il Pugliese, l’unico poema epico-storico del sec. XII che tratti della conquista normanna dell’Italia meridionale: le altre opere letterarie nelle quali vengono narrate tali vicende sono tutte, infatti, in prosa (o, tutt’al più, miste di prosa e versi), da Amato da Montecassino a Goffredo Malaterra, da Alessandro di Telese a Falcone di Benevento, da Romualdo da Salerno al cosiddetto Ugo Falcando. Pyrolytic behavior of lignocellulosic-based polysaccharides

The thermochemical behavior of cellulose, glucomannan, and xylan was investigated by pyrolysis–gas chromatographymass spectrometry (Py-GC/MS). In each case, major GC-amenable condensable products were classified into several compound groups, and the formation of these monomer-related fragments from the model substance samples was determined at 500, 600, and 700 C with a residence time of 5 s and 20 s. The results revealed that despite some general formation trends, no compound group was selectively formed at certain temperatures. FK Tapio Keskisen väitöskirjassa tutkittiin kuhan merkitystä järvien kalayhteisöissä. Erityisesti rehevissä järvissä kuha on tärkeä petokala.Telemetrialähettimellä merkittyjä kuhia seurattiin Päijänteen vesistössä. Osa kuhista oli paikallisia liikkuen vain parin kilometrin säteellä, kun taas osa vaelsi pisimmillään yli parikymmentä kilometriä. Lepidurus arcticus (the Arctic tadpole shrimp) is a vulnerable keystone species in Arctic and alpine water bodies where its occurrence and population size may influence the viability and life history traits of resident salmonids. Using data from a Norwegian mountain hydropower reservoir, Aursjoen, we illustrate how reduced availability of L. arcticus as prey resulted in the reduced condition, growth and delayed maturation of resident brown trout (Salmo trutta). Firm growth and profitability : The role of age and size in shifts between growth–profitability configurations

To investigate the routes toward profitable growth, this study partially replicates and extends the work of Davidsson et al. (2009) on firm growth–profitability dynamics with multi-industry data on over 66,000 Finnish firms. The results support prior findings on initial profitability being more important than initial growth for achieving high performance in both performance dimensions. Additional investigations on the role of firm age and size reveal further interesting dynamics: Very small young firms face fewer risks from growing at a low profitability level than other firms, and the benefits of firm size for future performance depend on the firm's current profitability.
