3D Tools for CH Documentation
2020
The research focuses on the digital Computer Assisted Restoration procedures to guide the measure of integration of an artefact, innovating and implementing traditional research methods. Non-invasive 3D Digitalization techniques with high-performance devices allow the generation of applications for high-resolution visualization of three-dimensional environments with the possibility of navigating, analyzing and consulting virtual models in real time. The innovative application of 3D digital technologies has demonstrated that the integrated use of the new technology can be a useful tool to improve the entire process of collecting, storing and consulting information and data related to diagnos…
Cross-Device Augmented Reality Annotations Method for Asynchronous Collaboration in Unprepared Environments
2021
Augmented Reality (AR) annotations are a powerful way of communication when collaborators cannot be present at the same time in a given environment. However, this situation presents several challenges, for example: how to record the AR annotations for later consumption, how to align virtual and real world in unprepared environments or how to offer the annotations to users with different AR devices. In this paper we present a cross-device AR annotation method that allows users to create and display annotations asynchronously in environments without the need for prior preparation (AR markers, point cloud capture, etc.). This is achieved through an easy user-assisted calibration process and a …

The Corpus of Finnish Sign Language
2020
This paper presents the Corpus of Finnish Sign Language(Corpus FinSL), a structured and annotated collection of Finnish Sign Language (FinSL) videos published in May 2019 in FIN-CLARIN's Language Bank of Finland. The corpus is divided into two subcorpora, one of which comprises elicited narratives and the other conversations. All of the FinSL material has been annotated using ELAN and the lexical database Finnish Signbank. Basic annotation includes ID-glosses and translations into Finnish. The anonymized metadata of Corpus FinSL has been organized in accordance with the IMDI standard. Altogether, Corpus FinSL contains nearly 15 hours of video material from 21 FinSL users. Corpus FinSL has a…
Dystopian fiction in English: a corpus-driven analysis of esteem in Veronica Roth’s "Divergent" trilogy
2020
In light of the recent wave of popularity of dystopian fiction for young adults, and in particular of Veronica Roth’s trilogy Divergent, research has begun to focus on this subgenre. However, the focus tends to be on educational and gender approaches to the novels, while the psychological aspects of the characters have been largely ignored. My study focuses on the representation of esteem and self-esteem in the trilogy through an analysis based on annotation. The results shed light on the factors that affect the protagonist’s role and self-representation.
<title>Multifeature image and video content-based storage and retrieval</title>
1996
In this paper we present most recent evolution of JACOB, a system we developed for image and video content-based storage and retrieval. The system is based on two separate archives: a 'features DB' and a 'raw-data DB'. When a user puts a query, a search is done in the 'features DB'; the selected items are taken form the 'raw-data DB' and shown to the user. Two kinds of sessions are allowed: 'database population' and 'database querying'. During a 'database population' session the user inserts new data into the archive. The input data can consist of digital images or videos. Videos are split into shots and for each shot one or more representative frames are automatically extracted. Shots and …
Vesiclepedia:A Compendium for Extracellular Vesicles with Continuous Community Annotation
2012
Vesiclepedia is a community-annotated compendium of molecular data on extracellular vesicles.
A HUMAN RESOURCE ONTOLOGY FOR RECRUITMENT PROCESS
2009
In this paper we propose a model of ontology for the human resource domain. We emphasize the benefits resulting from the application of Semantic Web technologies in the recruitment process. We use currently available standards and classifications to develop a human resource ontology which gives us means for semantic annotation of job postings and applications. Furthermore, we outline the process of semantic matching which improves the quality of query results. Finally, we propose the architecture of an evaluation system based on Semantic Web technologies.
ProGram data : The stories Snowman and Frog, where are you? [video corpus]
2016
"ProGram-aineisto, lumiukko- ja sammakkotarinat" koostuu suomalaisella viittomakielellä viitotuista tarinoista "Lumiukko" ("Snowman") ja "Sammakko, missä olet?" ("Frog, where are you?"). Aineisto on arkistoitu Kielipankkiin. Finnish Sign Language material collected in the ProGram project. The material consists of video files and their annotations in ELAN format.
