The synthesis of a hybrid graphene-nickel/manganese mixed oxide and its performance in lithium-ion batteries

2012

[EN] Mixing of aqueous suspensions of delaminated NiMn layered double hydroxide (LDH) and graphene oxide leads to the instantaneous precipitation of a hybrid material that after calcination under inert atmosphere at 450 degrees C leads to Ni6MnO8 nanoparticles deposited on larger reconstituted graphene sheets. This material exhibits electrical conductivity similar to graphite, superparamagnetism and can be used as an anode for Li-ion batteries. A maximum capacity value of 1030 mAh g(-1) was found during the first discharge, and capacity values higher than 400 mAh g(-1) were still achieved after 10 cycles. The methodology used here should allow the preparation of a large variety of hybrid gr…

Nanosensor for Sensitive Detection of the New Psychedelic Drug 25I-NBOMe.

2020

[EN] This work reports the synthesis, characterization, and sensing behavior of a hybrid nanodevice for the detection of the potent abuse drug 25I-NBOMe. The system is based on mesoporous silica nanoparticles, loaded with a fluorescent dye, functionalized with a serotonin derivative and capped with the 5-HT2A receptor antibody. In the presence of 25I-NBOMe the capping antibody is displaced, leading to pore opening and rhodamine B release. This delivery was ascribed to 5-HT2A receptor antibody detachment from the surface due to its stronger coordination with 25I-NBOMe present in the solution. The prepared nanodevice allowed the sensitive (limit of detection of 0.6 mm) and selective recogniti…

Amorphous semiconducting passive film-electrolyte junctions revisited. The influence of a non homogeneous density of state on the differential admitt…

2006

Abstract An analysis of the electronic properties of amorphous semiconductor-electrolyte junction is reported for passive films grown on Nb in alkaline solution and in a large range of thickness (~20nm ÷ ~250nm). A modelling of electronic density of state (DOS) has been carried out by fitting EIS spectra, at different potentials and in a range of frequencies (0.1 Hz ≤ f ≤100 kHz), and differential admittance (DA) data of a-Nb 2 O 5 /El interface. The fitting of EIS and DA curves was performed by using the theory of amorphous semiconductor Schottky barrier and a non-homogeneous DOS distribution.

NANOSTRUCTURED ANODE MATERIAL FOR Li-ION BATTERY OBTAINED BY GALVANIC PROCESS

2016

The accumulation of energy by batteries plays a fundamental role for the production of electrical energy and for its efficient management. Between different storage systems the lithium-ion battery are considered very interesting. Although they are now a well-established commercial reality, they are still subject of vigorous research efforts, in order to make improvements primarily in terms of costs, safety and energy density. The latter is in fact still low compared to that of fossil fuels, if you think to the automotive field. In particular efforts are focused towards the identification of valid alternatives to the electrode materials so as to overcome the limitations and extend the use of…

Sn-Co nanowire-based anodes for lithium-ion batteries

2010

The demand of improvement in lithium-ion battery technology in terms of specific capacity and safety has stimulated the search for anode materials alternative to graphite. Among them, tin-based materials have been widely studied because tin can intercalate lithium up to atomic ratio Li/Sn of 4.4 to deliver a impressive specific capacity of 993 mAhg−1 (while graphite gives 372 mAhg−1). Unfortunately the high volume change of about 300%, which is related to the insertion/removal of lithium, causes the alloy pulverization and loss of electric contact that causes a poor cycle life. The synthesis of nanometric materials, intermetallic compounds and carbon composites are strategies that have been…

Electron transfer mechanism in Shewanella loihica PV-4 biofilms formed at graphite electrode

2012

Abstract Electron transfer mechanisms in Shewanella loihica PV-4 viable biofilms formed at graphite electrodes were investigated in potentiostat-controlled electrochemical cells poised at oxidative potentials (0.2 V vs. Ag/AgCl). Chronoamperometry (CA) showed a repeatable biofilm growth of S. loihica PV-4 on graphite electrode. CA, cyclic voltammetry (CV) and its first derivative shows that both direct electron transfer (DET) mediated electron transfer (MET) mechanism contributes to the overall anodic (oxidation) current. The maximum anodic current density recorded on graphite was 90 μA cm − 2 . Fluorescence emission spectra shows increased concentration of quinone derivatives and riboflavi…
