An 18-year-old boy, who had severe abdominal pain for 18 months associated with marked weight loss, was found to have a stenosed ileal sling on double-contrast radiology of the small intestine. At operation a plate-like tumour was extending from the pancreas to the aortic bifurcation. Histological examination of removed tissue revealed retractile mesenteritis (mesenteric panniculitis; liposclerotic mesenteritis). Background The aim of our study was to evaluate the feasibility of exercise cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) in patients with repaired tetralogy of Fallot (RTOF) and to assess right and left ventricular adaptation and aortic wall response to exercise in comparison with volunteers. Methods 11 RTOF and 11 volunteers underwent prospective CMR at rest and during exercise. A supine bicycle ergometer was employed to reach twice the resting heart rate during continuous exercise, blood pressure and heart rate were recorded. A rare case of infrarenal aortic coarctation in a young female

Abstract Introduction Infrarenal abdominal aortic coarctation (AAC) is an extremely rare disease. It can be associated with renal artery stenosis determining secondary renal hypertension. Presentation of case We report a case of AAC in young female patient presenting systemic hypertension non-responder to medical treatment. Diagnostics revealed the involvement of the right renal artery as the cause of hypertension. The management consisted of percutaneous renal artery stenting and close surveillance for the aortic segment. The treatment was uneventful with resolution of the hypertensive condition. Transfemoral aortic valve replacement (TAVR) has become a standard therapeutic option for patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis. Special anatomies can pose distinct challenges for vascular access and later closure of the access site, for example, in preoperated patients. Here, we elucidate a case of transfemoral TAVR with vascular access by direct puncture of an aorto-bifemoral bypass graft and illustrate the feasibility of vascular closure by an anchored collagen-plug vascular closure device (Teleflex MANTA® ).
