This paper is an attempt at formulating a Best Current Practice (BCP) for access security and a baseline for core network security in the 3GPP-based systems. This encompasses the 2G circuit-switched GSM system, the 2.5G packet-switched GPRS system, the 3G UMTS system and the 4G LTE/LTE-A system. The A37G mutation in tRNA[Ser]Sec abrogates isopentenylation of base 37 and has a profound effect on selenoprotein expression in mice. Patients with a homozygous pathogenic p.R323Q variant in tRNA-isopentenyl-transferase (TRIT1) show a severe neurological disorder, and hence we wondered whether selenoprotein expression was impaired. Patient fibroblasts with the homozygous p.R323Q variant did not show a general decrease in selenoprotein expression. Test of the electric charge conservation law with Borexino detector

International audience; The new limit on the electron lifetime is obtained from data of the Borexino experiment. The expected signal from the e → γν decay mode is a 256 keV photon detected in liquid scintillator. Because of the extremely low radioactive background level in the Borexino detector it was possible to improve the previous measurement by two orders of magnitude.

In this paper medical applications on a Grid infrastructure, the MAGIC-5 Project, are presented and discussed. MAGIC-5 aims at developing Computer Aided Detection (CADe) software for the analysis of medical images on distributed databases by means of GRID Services. The use of automated systems for analyzing medical images improves radiologists’ performance; in addition, it could be of paramount importance in screening programs, due to the huge amount of data to check and the cost of related manpower. Clustering techniques for personal photo album management

In this work we propose a novel approach for the automatic representation of pictures achieving at more effective organization of personal photo albums. Images are analyzed and described in multiple representation spaces, namely, faces, background and time of capture. Faces are automatically detected, rectified and represented projecting the face itself in a common low-dimensional eigenspace. Backgrounds are represented with low-level visual features based on RGB histogram and Gabor filter bank. Adaptive Control of a Gas Turbine Engine for Axial Compressor Faults

An adaptive control system for a gas turbine engine which diagnoses conditions of axial compressor faults is proposed and analyzed. Nonlinear models of the gas turbine, neural networks and genetic algorithms are used in this research. The adaptive control system minimizes the reduction in gas turbine performance deriving from non-destructive faults. In the absence of faults, the system automatically performs the optimization of the engine between overhauls.
