Robust H-Infinity Filter Design for Uncertain Linear Systems Over Network with Network-Induced Delays and Output Quantization
2009
This paper investigates a convex optimization approach to the problem of robust H-Infinity filtering for uncertain linear systems connected over a common digital communication network. We consider the case where quantizers are static and the parameter uncertainties are norm bounded. Firstly, we propose a new model to investigate the effect of both the output quantization levels and the network conditions. Secondly, by introducing a descriptor technique, using Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional and a suitable change of variables, new required sufficient conditions are established in terms of delay-dependent linear matrix inequalities (LMIs) for the existence of the desired network-based quantize…
Altered neural responses to social fairness in bipolar disorder
2020
Highlights • Bipolar disorder is characterized by impaired processing of social fairness. • BD patients exhibit increased rejection of moderate unfairness in Ultimatum Game. • BD patients display decreased response to moderate unfairness in anterior insula. • BD patients deactivate posterior and middle insula in response to unfairness. • Trait impulsivity positively correlated with deactivations in posterior insula.

Fingerprint Quality Evaluation in a Novel Embedded Authentication System for Mobile Users
2015
The way people access resources, data and services, is radically changing using modern mobile technologies. In this scenario, biometry is a good solution for security issues even if its performance is influenced by the acquired data quality. In this paper, a novel embedded automatic fingerprint authentication system (AFAS) for mobile users is described. The goal of the proposed system is to improve the performance of a standard embedded AFAS in order to enable its employment in mobile devices architectures. The system is focused on the quality evaluation of the raw acquired fingerprint, identifying areas of poor quality. Using this approach, no image enhancement process is needed after the …

Immunomodulatory role of statins in autoimmune disease: is there a role for human γδT cells?
p62: Friend or Foe? Evidences for OncoJanus and NeuroJanus Roles
2020
p62 is a versatile protein involved in the delicate balance between cell death and survival, which is fundamental for cell fate decision in the context of both cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. As an autophagy adaptor, p62 recognizes polyubiquitin chains and interacts with LC3, thereby targeting the selected cargo to the autophagosome with consequent autophagic degradation. Beside this function, p62 behaves as an interactive hub in multiple signalling including those mediated by Nrf2, NF-κB, caspase-8, and mTORC1. The protein is thus crucial for the control of oxidative stress, inflammation and cell survival, apoptosis, and metabolic reprogramming, respectively. As a multifunctional pr…
Recent advances in copper-based solid heterogeneous catalysts for azide-alkyne cycloaddition reactions
2022
The copper(I)-catalyzed azide−alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) reaction is considered to be the most representative ligation process within the context of the “click chemistry” concept. This CuAAC reaction, which yields compounds containing a 1,2,3-triazole core, has become relevant in the construction of biologically complex systems, bioconjugation strategies, and supramolecular and material sciences. Although many CuAAC reactions are performed under homogenous conditions, heterogenous copper-based catalytic systems are gaining exponential interest, relying on the easy removal, recovery, and reusability of catalytically copper species. The present review covers the most recently developed copp…
Developing a supplier performance analysis model : case study: Aker MH supplier performance
2012
Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2012 This master thesis focuses on the use Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) for measuring supplier performance. Goal of the study is to apply a mathematical model for supplier performance measurement which would be able to handle multi-criteria. To test the model in practice, cooperation was established with case study firm (Aker Maritime Hydraulics), which is providing drilling engineering solutions to Oil & Gas industry. Proposing the model for measuring performance of existing suppliers not only demonstrates how DEA can be applied, but also sets the grounds for supplier performance improvement process in a case study firm. …
The implementation of NFC-based mobile payment in Norway : a case study of the emerging NFC business ecosystem in Norway
2013
Masteroppgave i økonomi og administrasjon - Universitetet i Agder 2013 This master thesis looks at the emergence of mobile payment in Norway with a focus on NFC technology. NFC based mobile payments represent a relative new technology that can be used in a relative new business area, which is that of mobile payments. The move towards mobile payment can be the beginning of a shift from traditional payment forms, such as cash and payment cards, to a new and modern way of conduction payments, using your own personal mobile phone. For the unobservant eye, the idea can seem like a scenario taken out of a Hollywood movie. The reality is that the technology already surrounds us in our everyday lif…
