Porosities and dimensions of measures

We introduce a concept of porosity for measures and study relations between dimensions and porosities for two classes of measures: measures on $R^n$ which satisfy the doubling condition and strongly porous measures on $R$.

Thin obstacle problem : Estimates of the distance to the exact solution

We consider elliptic variational inequalities generated by obstacle type problems with thin obstacles. For this class of problems, we deduce estimates of the distance (measured in terms of the natural energy norm) between the exact solution and any function that satisfies the boundary condition and is admissible with respect to the obstacle condition (i.e., they are valid for any approximation regardless of the method by which it was found). Computation of the estimates does not require knowledge of the exact solution and uses only the problem data and an approximation. Melnikov functions and Bautin ideal

The computation of the number of limit cycles which appear in an analytic unfolding of planar vector fields is related to the decomposition of the displacement function of this unfolding in an ideal of functions in the parameter space, called the Ideal of Bautin. On the other hand, the asymptotic of the displacement function, for 1-parameter unfoldings of hamiltonian vector fields is given by Melnikov functions which are defined as the coefficients of Taylor expansion in the parameter. Closed form coefficients in the Symmetric Boundary Element Approach

Abstract In the area of the structural analysis, the problems connected to the use of the symmetric Galerkin Boundary Element Method (SGBEM) must be investigated especially in the mathematical and computational difficulties that are present in computing the solving system coefficients. Indeed, any coefficient is made by double integrals including often fundamental solutions having a high degree of singularity. Nonlinear nonhomogeneous Neumann eigenvalue problems

2015

We consider a nonlinear parametric Neumann problem driven by a nonhomogeneous differential operator with a reaction which is $(p-1)$-superlinear near $\pm\infty$ and exhibits concave terms near zero. We show that for all small values of the parameter, the problem has at least five solutions, four of constant sign and the fifth nodal. We also show the existence of extremal constant sign solutions.

On the steady state problem of the chemotaxis-consumption model with logistic growth and Dirichlet boundary condition for signal

This paper concerns the steady state problem for chemotaxis consumption system with logistic growth and constant concentration of chemoat-tractant on the boundary of the domain. We establish the existence of a non-constant positive solution to this problem. The uniqueness of this solution is obtained under the smallness assumption on the boundary data. Some qualitative properties of the solutions and numerical results are presented.

Adaptive rational interpolation for point values

Abstract G. Ramponi et al. introduced in Carrato et al. (1997,1998), Castagno and Ramponi (1996) and Ramponi (1995) a non linear rational interpolator of order two. In this paper we extend this result to get order four. We observe the Gibbs phenomenon that is obtained near discontinuities with its weights. With the weights we propose we obtain approximations of order four in smooth regions and three near discontinuities. We also introduce a rational nonlinear extrapolation which is also of order four in the smooth region of the given function. A class of weak pseudo-bosons and their bi-coherent states

In this paper we extend some previous results on weak pseudo-bosons and on their related bi-coherent states. The role of {\em compatible} functions is discussed in details, and some examples are considered. The pseudo-bosonic ladder operators analysed in this paper generalize significantly those considered so far, and a class of new diagonalizable manifestly non self-adjoint Hamiltonians are deduced.
