Abstract An innovative procedure is introduced for the identification of the mechanical parameters of orthotropic plates of arbitrary shape, under various boundary conditions, based on vibration data. The method employs a combination of a convenient Rayleigh-Ritz approach and Particle-Swarm Optimization to estimate elastic constants of the orthotropic material in a straightforward manner, without requiring computationally demanding iterative Finite Element analyses. An evaluation of recent local image descriptors for real-world applications of image matching

This paper discusses and compares the best and most recent local descriptors, evaluating them on increasingly complex image matching tasks, encompassing planar and non-planar scenarios under severe viewpoint changes. This evaluation, aimed at assessing descriptor suitability for real-world applications, leverages the concept of approximated overlap error as a means to naturally extend to non-planar scenes the standard metric used for planar scenes. Evaluating Correlations in IoT Sensors for Smart Buildings

International audience; In this paper we introduce a dataset of environmental information obtained via indoor and outdoor sensors deployed in the SMART Infrastructure Facility of the University of Wollongong (Australia). The acquired dataset is also made open-sourced along with this paper. We also propose a novel approach based on an evolutionary algorithm to determine pairs of correlated sensors. We compare our approach with three other standard techniques on the same dataset: on average, the accuracy of the evolutionary method is about 62,92%. We also evaluate the computational time, assessing the suitability of the proposed pipeline for real-time applications.

Muovendo dall’ordinanza n. 38 del 2022 del Consiglio di giustizia amministrativa per la Regione siciliana (CGARS), il contributo si sofferma a) sull’estensione per analogia degli obblighi vaccinali; b) su oscurità ed incoerenze della disciplina sugli obblighi vaccinali in tema di accesso alle strutture socio-sanitarie. Il contributo si incentra poi sull'istruttoria tecnico-scientifica e la motivazione sulla non manifesta infondatezza delle questioni di legittimità costituzionale aventi ad oggetto la disciplina sull'obbligo vaccinale e sugli aspetti problematici dell'ordinanza di rimessione del CGARS.

Capability approach is one of the most important contributions of contemporary political philosophy to the subject of international distributive justice and more generally to the implementation of development policies. In this paper I aim to shed light on some pitfalls of the last production of Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum.
