Reactions of the divalent germylene Ge(ArMe6)2 (ArMe6 = C6H3-2,6-{C6H2-2,4,6-(CH3)3}2) with water or methanol gave the Ge(IV) insertion product (ArMe6)2Ge(H)OH (1) or (ArMe6)2Ge(H)OMe (2), respectively. In contrast, its stannylene congener Sn(ArMe6)2 reacted with water or methanol to produce the Sn(II) species {ArMe6Sn(μ-OH)}2 (3) or {ArMe6Sn(μ-OMe)}2 (4), respectively, with elimination of ArMe6H. Compounds 1–4 were characterized by IR and NMR spectroscopy as well as by X-ray crystallography. Density functional theory calculations yielded mechanistic insight into the formation of (ArMe6)2Ge(H)OH and {ArMe6Sn(μ-OH)}2. Sport provides many youth participants with a central life project, and yet very few eventually fulfill their athletic dreams, which may lead them to disengage from sport entirely. Many studies have explored the processes of athletic retirement, but little is known about how youth athletes actually reconstruct their relationship with sport and embodiment postretirement. Abstract Objectives While role models have been documented to play a vital role in adolescents’ career development and identity exploration, in sport psychology they remain an untapped resource. The present study drew on narrative inquiry to explore the patterns of role model selection by adolescent student-athletes and the narrative maps these role models provide for self-construction. Should I stay or should I go? Physical education teachers' career intentions

Purpose: This study investigated Finnish physical education (PE) teachers’ intentions to leave the profession and the reasons behind them. Method: A large sample (N ¼ 808) of PE teachers who graduated between 1980 and 2008 (432 women, 376 men) answered a modified job satisfaction and teacher follow-up questionnaire that elicited career perceptions, intentions, and current work duties. Results: In this sample, 26% of the respondents were contemplating leaving their jobs as PE teachers and an additional 13% were actually in the process of transferring from PE teaching but planned to remain in school teaching. The purpose of this study was to investigate Australian physical education (PE) teachers’ career intentions and factors influencing their intentions. A sample (N = 234) of Western Australian PE teachers responded to a questionnaire determining PE teachers’ work and the primary motivators for intention to leave the profession. Half (51.3%) of the respondents wanted a change from their current PE teacher job and 39.8% were intending to leave PE teaching. The most frequent reasons for wanting to leave PE related to: non-use of expertise, workload, school administration, and lack of opportunities for personal and professional development. Tämän Pro gradu–tutkielman ensimmäisessä osassa perehdytään kaliksi[4]resorsinareenien eli resorsinareenien monipuoliseen kemiaan, synteeseihin sekä niiden sovelluksien ominaisuuksiin, kuten nestekiteiden muodostumiseen. Toisessa osassa käsitellään bentsoksatsiinien kemiaa, niiden ominaisuuksia ja mahdollisuuksia uusien sovellusten kannalta, esimerkiksi teollisuudessa. Kuppimaisen muodon johdosta resorsinareenit ovat hyviä isäntä-molekyylejä pienille poolisille orgaanisille molekyyleille sekä kationeille. A Social Epistemological Inquiry into Biases in Journal Peer Review

In this paper, I examine journal peer review by focusing on factors that potentially hamper its sound functioning. I argue that scientific literature is not only skewed by the individual level biases of reviewers acting as gatekeepers, but also by the institutional context in which peer review operates. I show that peer review and its efficacy in improving the quality of published work should not be evaluated without heeding the different forms of academic publishing and the role that publishing plays in academic career development.
