Four novel calix[4]arene-based glycoclusters were synthesized by conjugating the saccharide units to the macrocyclic scaffold using the CuAAC reaction and using long and hydrophilic ethylene glycol spacers. Initially, two galactosylcalix[4]arenes were prepared starting from saccharide units and calixarene cores which differ in the relative dispositions of the alkyne and azido groups. Once the most convenient synthetic pathway was selected, two further lactosylcalix[4]arenes were obtained, one in the cone, the other one in the 1,3-alternate structure. Recognition of N-Alkyl- and N-Aryl-Acetamides by N-Alkyl Ammonium Resorcinarene Chlorides

N-alkyl ammonium resorcinarene chlorides are stabilized by an intricate array of intra- and intermolecular hydrogen bonds that leads to cavitand-like structures. Depending on the upper-rim substituents, self-inclusion was observed in solution and in the solid state. The self-inclusion can be disrupted at higher temperatures, whereas in the presence of small guests the self-included dimers spontaneously reorganize to 1:1 host-guest complexes. Heptahelicene-2-carboxylic acid was effectively synthesised from suitably functionalised naphthalene building blocks. Methoxy-substituted 1,1'-ethyne-1,2-diylbis(2-but-3-yn-1-ylnaphthalene) was cyclised in the presence of CpCo(CO)(2)/PPh(3) to 2-methoxy-7,8,11,12-tetrahydroheptahelicene, which was converted into heptahelicen-2-yl trifluoromethanesulfonate. This reactive intermediate underwent Pd(OAc)(2)/dppp-catalysed methoxycarbonylation reaction to provide, after hydrolysis, heptahelicene-2-carboxylic acid. Cyclodextrin–calixarene co-polymers as a new class of nanosponges

Hyper-reticulated co-polymers jointly formed by cyclodextrin and calixarene units, which can be considered as a new class of nanosponges, were easily obtained by means of a click chemistry approach. Host-Guest Complexes of C-Ethyl-2-methylresorcinarene and Aromatic

Abstract The C‐ethyl‐2‐methylresorcinarene (1) forms 1:1 in‐cavity complexes with aromatic N,N′‐dioxides, only if each of the aromatic rings has an N−O group. The structurally different C‐shaped 2,2′‐bipyridine N,N′‐dioxide (2,2′‐BiPyNO) and the linear rod‐shaped 4,4′‐bipyridine N,N′‐dioxide (4,4′‐BiPyNO) both form 1:1 in‐cavity complexes with the host resorcinarene in C 4v crown and C 2v conformations, respectively. In the solid state, the host–guest interactions between the 1,3‐bis(4‐pyridyl)propane N,N′‐dioxide (BiPyPNO) and the host 1 stabilize the unfavorable anti‐gauche conformation. Nel presente contributo sono analizzati e discussi gli esiti di un percorso di tirocinio organizzato presso l’Università di Palermo per la specializzazione all’insegnamento di sostegno nella scuola primaria e dell’infanzia. La proposta formativa, realizzata da settembre 2017 a giugno 2018, ha mirato allo sviluppo di abilità di pensiero critico in 450 insegnanti in formazione. The present field experiment examines the relationship between self-awareness, violation of personal space and helping  behavior. A beggar asking for alms on the streets. To induce the first experimental condition, the state of objective self-awareness, the beggar had a mirror at chest height, suspended from a string round his neck. This exploratory study identifies and describe key marketing drivers of consumer experience with non-financial transactions available on mobile banking apps.
