Viens no būtiskākajiem notikumiem politikas sfērā ir Eiropas Savienības referendums, kurā Lielbritānijas pilsoņi nobalsoja par Lielbritānijas izstāšanos no Eiropas Savienības. Tā kā aptauju rezultāti pirms referenduma rādīja pretēju rezultātu, tika izdarīts pieņēmums, ka Britu politiķu retorika un runas pirms referenduma atstāja nozīmīgu iespaidu uz tā iznākumu. This thesis examines the structure and argumentation of letters to the editor written by Finnish upper secondary school students. The research material includes 89 texts and the objective of the study is to determine the structure and argumentation of these texts. Previous studies have reported difficulties in analysing students’ argumentation. Especially the warrant, which connects data with claims, is found to be problematic to recognise. Weexamine how specific criteria for different forms of reasoning could decrease this difficulty. Students' dialogic and justifying moves during dialogic argumentation in mathematics and physics

In this study, we focus on dialogic argumentation among students in a whole class setting in mathematics and physics in lower secondary school. By drawing on previous studies on the structure of argumentation and dialogic interactions, we suggest that transparency of student reasoning and students' engagement with each other's ideas are two key aspects in dialogic argumentation. Effects of reading real versus print-out versions of multiple documents on students? sourcing and integrated understanding

Abstract This study investigated the extent to which students’ sourcing and comprehension can be supported by the reading of real, as opposed to print-out versions of multiple documents. It was found that the reading of real rather than print-out versions of multiple documents on the issue of climate change increased students’ memory for source information and made them include more specific references to document sources in argument essays that they wrote about the issue.
