Clinical Characteristics, Treatments, and Outcomes of Patients with Myocardial Infarction with Non-Obstructive Coronary Arteries (MINOCA): Results fr…
2020
Background: Diagnosis of myocardial infarction with non-obstructive coronary arteries (MINOCA) requires both clinical evidence of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and demonstration of non-obstructive coronary arteries using angiography. We compared the clinical features, treatments, and three-year outcomes in patients with MINOCA and myocardial infarction with obstructive coronary artery disease (MI-CAD). Methods: We retrospectively analyzed data for 205,606 hospitalized patients with AMI. MINOCA was indicated as a working diagnosis in 6063 patients (2.94% of all AMI patients). For the control group we included 160,886 patients with MI-CAD. We evaluated the baseline characteristics, medica…
The Multifaceted Interplay between Atrial Fibrillation and Myocardial Infarction: A Review
2021
International audience; This review was conducted to emphasize the complex interplay between atrial fibrillation (AF) and myocardial infraction (MI). In type 1 (T1) MI, AF is frequent and associated with excess mortality. Moreover, AF after hospital discharge for T1MI is not rare, suggesting the need to improve AF screening and to develop therapeutic strategies for AF recurrence. Additionally, AF is a common trigger for type 2 MI (T2MI), and recent data have shown that tachyarrhythmia or bradyarrhythmia could be a causal factor in, respectively, 13–47% or 2–7% of T2MI. In addition, AF is involved in T2MI pathogenesis as a result of severe anemia related to anticoagulants. AF is also an unde…
CT-Angiographie an einem 16-Schicht-CT zur perioperativen Evaluation der Leberarterien im Vergleich zur MR-Angiographie
2004
Purpose: To evaluate the efficiency of CT angiography (CTA) with 16-row MSCT compared with MR angiography (MRA) in analyzing the arterial anatomy in patients undergoing liver surgery. Materials and Methods: In 30 patients, MRA and CTA studies of the abdominal vessels were reviewed. CT parameters: slice thickness 3 mm; collimation 1.5; reconstruction interval 2 mm (Philips MX 8000 IDT); 120 ml contrast media (400 mg/ml) at a rate of 4 ml/ sec; acquisition of arterial-phase scans. The anatomy of the hepatic artery was evaluated from axial and reconstructed maximum-intensity-projection (MIP) images ("Slab-Viewer", Philips). MR parameters: contrast-enhanced coronal FLASH-3D sequences; slice thi…
Chirurgische Therapie des Pulmonalarteriensarkoms
2001
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Pulmonary artery sarcoma is a rare neoplasm and possibly unnoticed cause of pulmonary hypertension. The presentation is one of central pulmonary artery obstruction and progressive right-heart failure. In most cases, the diagnosis of malignancy is confirmed post mortem. We report the outcome of eight patients with primary pulmonary artery sarcomas. METHODS Eight patients (four female, four male, mean age 48,2 years, preop. NYHA functional class III/IV: n = 5/3) were referred for further evaluation of pulmonary hypertension. Malignancy was suspected in six of these patients by means of computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance tomography (MRT). In two patients …
Dolichoectasia of the vertebrobasilar complex causing neural compression
2014
Dear Editor, We have read with great interest the paper of Yuh et al.[4] reporting a case of symptomatic hydrocephalus due to vertebrobasilar dolichoectasia (VBD) compressing the brainstem. Ectatic or pathologically enlarged vertebrobasilar arteries have been reported with increasing frequency and associated with several clinical syndromes. These include an assortment of cranial nerve syndromes, transient or permanent motor deficit, cerebellar dysfunction, central sleep apnea, ischemic stroke, hypertension, and hydrocephalus as reported in the paper by Yuh et al.[4] Others and we have also described pyramidal tract signs and cranial nerve nucleus dysfunction caused by vascular compression o…
An FFR CT diagnostic strategy versus usual care in patients with suspected coronary artery disease planned for invasive coronary angiography at Germa…
2017
Aim Diagnostic evaluation practices for suspected coronary artery disease (CAD) may vary between countries. Our objective was to compare a CT-derived fractional flow reserve (FFRCT) diagnostic strategy with usual care in patients with planned invasive coronary angiography (ICA) enrolled in the PLATFORM (Prospective Longitudinal Trial of FFRCT: Outcome and Resource Impacts) study at German sites. Methods Patients were divided into two consecutive observational cohorts, receiving either usual care or CT angiography (CTA)/FFRCT. The primary endpoint was the percentage of patients planned for ICA, with no obstructive CAD on ICA within 90 days. Secondary endpoints included death, myocardial infa…
Das Popliteaaneurysma: Klinik und Diagnostik
1995
PURPOSE To identify clinical and radiological features allowing an early diagnosis of popliteal aneurysms. MATERIAL AND METHODS History, clinical features and radiological findings of 23 patients with 37 aneurysms were reviewed. RESULTS 14 patients presented with a history of a sudden onset of rest pain localised in the calf or foot. Arteriography found popliteal artery occlusion in 12 of them. Amputation was necessary in one patient in spite of immediate diagnosis and therapy. In two cases embolisation of the tibial vessels caused intermittent claudication. In at least 7 patients the underlying disease was not suspected until arteriography was performed. In 16/23 patients the presence of t…

Correlation between rCBF, Angiography, EEG and Scanning in Brain Tumors
1969
The findings with techniques of different sensitivity, and which investigate different aspects of brain structure and/or function are difficult to correlate. However, such a comparison should help in elucidating the physiopathological mechanisms of brain lesions and the postoperative clinical evolution and prognosis in cases of brain tumors.
