Neuropathology of Cerebellar Infarction: Its Morphology in Comparison to Selective Postmortem Angiography of Cerebellar Arteries

1994

A typology of infarctions [11, 20] is established for the cerebral hemispheres and has recently also been used, chiefly in neuroradiological diagnosis, for cerebellar infarctions [2–5, 8, 10, 16]. Detailed clinical [12] and microangiographic [7, 9, 13, 15, 17] investigations of the vascularization of the posterior cranial fossa can be referred to in this context. With the aid of selective postmortem angiograms we examined the territories of the superior cerebellar artery (SCA), anterior inferior cerebellar artery (AICA), and posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA) on serial sections in the three planes of projection. The sagittal plane offers decisive advantages for assigning cerebellar…

Determination of myocardial perfusion and coronary flow reserve by densitometric measurements: a selective classification of regions of interest

2002

To evaluate the functional effect of a coronary artery stenosis on the dependent myocardium, digitized coronary angiograms (DCAs) were recorded. The DCAs, acquired during heart catheterization, provide information about myocardial perfusion and coronary flow reserve of areas supplied by this coronary artery. For each analysis the myocardium is separated into different regions of interest (ROIs); 16 ROIs in the distribution of the LCA and 8 ROIs for the RCA. In addition to that, the ROIs of the diseased vessels are divided into ROIs which are proximal, within and distal to the stenosis. Using a semiautomatic procedure, densograms are constructed from which the parameter rise time is calculat…

EP1299 Laparoscopic – laterally extended pelvic resection

2019

Introduction/Background Lateral isolated gynecological cancer infiltrating the pelvic side wall (PSW) has been considered as a not operable surgery with poor oncological outcome. The development of the laterally extended endopelvic resection (LEER) and surgical progress for disease overcoming the endopelvic fascia infiltrating muscles and nerves, have achieved the possibility to treat those patients with a curative intent. We describe for the first time the feasibility of laparoscopic laterally extended pelvic resection (L-LEPR), with complete removal of disease. Methodology LEPR was defined as an en bloc lateral resection of a pelvic tumor involving sidewall muscle, and/or bone, and/or maj…

Transkranielle Dopplersonographie bei Kopf-Hals-Tumoren*

1991

Transcranial Doppler ultrasound (TCD) recording is a non-invasive diagnostic procedure for the evaluation of the cerebral collateral flow in patients, in whom therapeutic ligation or resection of the common and/or internal carotid artery is planned. Patients are first examined under resting conditions, and then under manual compression of the ipsilateral carotid artery. Since January 1989, 31 ENT and neurosurgical patients have been examined. In all patients an immediate decrease in flow velocity in the middle cerebral artery (mca) of about 25% to 90% was recorded. In 42.8% of the patients the mca flow velocity reached 90% or more of its value under normal conditions within a short period. …

Ectasia and Aneurysm of the Right Coronary Artery Resulting From a Shunt to the Coronary Sinus

1998

A 65-year-old woman presented with a systolic-diastolic murmur. Further MRI investigations as well as angiography revealed an arteriovenous shunt to the coronary sinus via an enlarged right coronary artery (Figure 1A⇓ and 1B⇓). The distal part of this coronary artery was transformed to a large coronary aneurysm of such extent that the left atrium was compressed …

Messung des Gefäßdurchmessers zur Bestimmung von Stent- und Ballongröße bei perkutanen Eingriffen an der Beckenstrombahn

1995

AIM Should the sizes of balloons and stents used in the pelvic circulation be determined by the size of the ipsilateral or contralateral vessel? STUDY DESIGN The angiographic findings in 31 patients were analysed; in 10 an occlusion and in 21 a high grade stenosis (greater than 75%) of the common iliac artery had been treated by stenting (26) or simple PTA (5). RESULTS In 26 of the 31 patients there was marked reduction in the lumen distal to the lesion up to 40%. In 17 patients this was reversed immediately after the procedure and in five others the lumen increased but a difference between the two sides remained. The changes on the two sides following treatment were statistically significa…

Parametric assessment of myocardial perfusion by densitometric evaluation of digital subtraction coronary angiograms: a comparison with tomographic T…

2002

Densitometric results about local myocardial perfusion are compared with those derived from a quantitative analysis of TL-201 single photon emission computer tomograms (TL-201 SPECT). Ten patients underwent conventional TL-201 SPECT at rest and after maximum bicycle stress and dipyridamole infusion the day prior to the investigation. SPECT was applied to provide improved spatial resolution for the detection of perfusion abnormalities. During the catheterization procedure four digital subtraction coronary angiograms were performed, two of the left and two of the right coronary artery both before and after pharmacologically induced hyperemia by intracoronary papaverine. The densitometric para…

Coronary plaque imaging with multislice computed tomography: technique and clinical applications.

2006

The composition of an atherosclerotic lesion, rather than solely the degree of stenosis, is considered to be an important determinant of acute coronary events. Whereas until recently only invasive techniques have been able to provide clues about plaque composition with consistent reproducibility, several recent studies have revealed the potential of multislice computed tomography (MSCT) for noninvasive plaque imaging. Coronary MSCT has the potential to detect coronary plaques and to characterize their composition based on the X-ray attenuating features of each structure. MSCT may also reveal the total plaque burden (calcified and noncalcified components) for individual patients with coronar…
