In some regions of the world such as the Northern Hemisphere, the abandonment of agricultural land is one of the most widespread forms of land use change. In general, abandonment is followed by colonization by herbaceous and woody plants. Since the 1950s, wide areas of Southern Italy have been afforested for soil conservation improvement. In order to quantify the effects of agricultural abandonment and artificial afforestation on soil organic carbon (SOC), a dataset of 48 Sicilian sites has been analyzed. The present dissertation examines the impact of (computerised) adaptive corrective feedback, that is, feedback dynamically adapting to learners’ abilities, in English as a second/foreign language (L2) and explores the ways to maximise this impact. The study was inspired by the sociocultural perspective on development, which had implications for the interpretation of the results, including those obtained through statistical data analyses. The article discusses the difficulties of diagnosing speaking skills in the situation of matriculation examination, resulting from the specific nature of spoken language varieties and texts implementation in these variants. Factors that should be taken into account when formulating criteria for assessing speech and conversation exams are: complex and holistic structure of spoken speech, transience of audible text, the spontaneity of live speech, the power of nonverbal codes, a significant stigma of a dialog, and the influence of situational context on the course of communicative interaction. Le specie arboree esotiche invasive non di rado rappresentano una quota significativa della composizione dendrologica dei boschi di neoformazione e preoccupano per gli impatti che possono causare sulla biodiversità. Recentemente, il timore riguarda i possibili effetti causati agli ecosistemi boschivi: infatti, gli ecosistemi forestali e quelli a essi contigui, come pascoli e prati permanenti, apparentemente più resilienti rispetto ad altri tipi di ecosistemi, ne subiscono l'aggressività in modo significativo e, anche in forza di provvedimenti legislativi, la pianificazione e gestione silvopastorale è chiamata a prestare sempre più attenzione a questo tema.

A case formulation model for the assessment of psychological problems among deafblind persons

In order to describe and understand possible problems associated with deafblindness we applied a functional analysis case formulation strategy and Functional Analytic Clinical Case Diagrams (FACCD). We collected clinical assessment data from deafblind persons who were experiencing multiple psychological problems as reported by their healthcare professionals. The data were collected after the healthcare professionals were trained in functional analyses and in applying FACCD.
