l -Prolinoyl chiral picket iron porphyrins evaluated for the enantioselective epoxidation of alkenes

2003

International audience; Four atropisomers of an L-prolinoyl picket porphyrin were synthesised from tetra-o-aminophenyl porphyrin (TAPP) and were evaluated as alkene epoxidation catalysts after incorporation of iron in the porphyrin core. In the case of the aaaa atropisomer bearing the four amino groups on the same side, a bulky base was employed in order to suppress the eventual reaction on the non-functionalised side of the porphyrin. The resulting enantioselectivities were compared with either other chiral motifs or with the corresponding strapped porphyrins. The enantioselectivities obtained with picket porphyrins are as high as those for strapped porphryins, and in some cases, even highe…

Cytotoxic labdane diterpenes and bisflavonoid atropisomers from leaves of Araucaria bidwillii

2017

Abstract Chemical investigation of a methanolic extract of leaves from Araucaria bidwillii (Araucariaceae) from Egypt afforded four new labdane diterpenoidal metabolites (1–4) together with one known diterpene, 7-oxocallitrisic acid (5), two triterpenoidal metabolites, 2-O-acetyl-11-keto-boswellic acid (6) and β-sitosterol-3-O-glucopyranoside (7), phloretic acid (8), and two methylated bisflavonoids, agathisflavone-4′,7,7″-trimethyl ether (9) and cupressuflavone-4′,7,7″-trimethyl ether (10). The new metabolites 1–4 were unambiguously identified by applying extensive 1D and 2D NMR spectroscopic studies as well as HRESIMS. The relative and absolute configurations of 1–4 were determined using …

Synthesis and coordinating ability of an anionic cobaltabisdicarbollide ligand geometrically analogous to BINAP.

2004

The anionic chelating ligand [1,1'-(PPh 2 ) 2 -3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 ) 2 ] - has been synthesized from [3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 4 H 1 1 ) 2 ] - in very good yield in a one-pot process with an easy work-up procedure. The coordinating ability of this ligand has been studied with Group 11 metal ions (Ag, Au) and with transition-metal ions (Pd, Rh). The two dicarbollide halves of the [1,1'-(PPh 2 ) 2 -3,3'-Co(1,2-C 2 B 9 H 1 0 ) 2 ] - ligand can swing about one axis in a manner analogous to the constituent parts of BINAP and ferrocenyl phosphine derivatives. All these ligands function as hinges, with the most important property in relation to the coordination requirements of the metal being the P…

Functionalization of Porphyrins: Mechanistic Insights, Conformational Studies, and Structural Characterizations

2006

The condensation of 3-chloromethylbenzoyl chloride with three atropisomers of meso-5,10,15,20-tetrakis(2-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP) is reported, followed by the reaction of the anion of diethyl malonate to prepare various strapped porphyrins. According to two different geometries of the straps, the resulting preorganization of the hanging ethoxycarbonyl groups is more or less adapted to the coordination of cations such as lanthanides. The conformational study, as well as the X-ray structures of three strapped porphyrins, demonstrate that among the three atropisomers investigated in this work, only two of them lead to strapped porphyrins in which an ethoxycarbonyl group is directed towards…

A Versatile and Convenient Method for the Functionalization of Porphyrins

2001

International audience; The condensation of 3-(chloromethyl)benzoyl chloride with different atropisomers of meso-(tetra-o-aminophenyl)porphyrin (TAPP), followed by the reaction of a series of nucleophilic reagents leads, among others, to precursors of biomimetic models of heme proteins such as cytochrome c oxidase (CcO). This synthesis can also be applied as an efficient two-step reaction to obtain highly functionalized porphyrin derivatives potentially useful for cation binding.

ChemInform Abstract: Carbazole Synthesis via an in situ Trapping Strategy with Indolyl Enol Ethers.

2010

Indolyl enol ethers, generated from the alkoxy(indolyl)carbenium tetra- fluoroborates (1) by treatment with sodium hydride, can be trapped with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate or N-phenylmaleimide to furnish the se- lectively functionalized carbazoles (3), (4), (5), (9), (10), and (13). In addition, the biaryl derivatives (6) and (11) are produced by a ring- opening reaction of the primarily formed Diels-Alder adduct. In the case of the biaryl derivative (6), an X-ray crystal structure analysis yields valuable information on constitutions and configurations in the biaryl series. The phenomenon of atropisomerism is discussed for this compound

Two atropisomers of tricarbonyl[η6-7-chloro-3-(3-chloro-2-methylphenyl)-2,4,8-trimethyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2,4-dibora-1,3-diazanaphthalene]chromium(0)

2001

The structures of two atropisomers of the title compound, [Cr(C16H18B2Cl2N2)(CO)3], are reported. For both compounds, the Cr(CO)3 moiety is bound to the C6 aromatic ring of the molecule; the existence of atropisomers resulting from the non-equivalence of both faces of the C6 aromatic ring is a consequence of the 3-chloro-2-methylphenyl ring being nearly perpendicular to the mean plane of the 2,4-dibora-1,3-diazanaphthalene ring. The orientation of the Cr(CO)3 tripod relative to the C6 aromatic ring is such that it is nearly eclipsed in one isomer (2.4° rotation from being eclipsed with C—N, C—Cl and C—H) and slightly twisted (16.2°) from an eclipsed conformation in the other.

αα- and αβ-Zinc-meso-A2B2-tetraarylporphyrins with large optical responses to triethylamine

2012

Synthesis and separation of αα- and αβ-meso-A(2)B(2)-zinc(II) tetraarylporphyrin atropisomers with A = mesityl and B = ortho-phenylethynyl-phenyl are reported. Both isomers exhibit large optical responses upon axial NEt(3) coordination which are visible to the human eye and could therefore be beneficial for the design of smart amine sensing materials. The larger spectral changes as compared to Zn(TPP) are attributed to pronounced distortions of the porphyrin π-system due to steric interactions of the coordinating amine with the porphyrin periphery. This effect as well as the coordination site of NEt(3) at the αα-isomer have been studied by NMR experiments and were rationalized by DFT calcul…

BODIPY - phosphane - gold complexes : towards the elaboration of optical theranostics

2015

This work describes new anticancer agents that could be detected by optical imaging, namely optical theranostics. After a first chapter describing the context of cancer imaging and therapy, a second chapter describes a first series of BODIPY-phosphine-gold theranostics, the synthesis of which has been optimized (less steps, shortening the reaction time, scale up). Their conjugation with biomolecules (glucose, peptide) has been achieved by developing a simple and efficient method that leads to the coupling between the gold atom of the probe and the thiol of the biomolecule (modified or not), leading to a gold sulfur bound. Hence, it makes the biovectorization of the probes possible in order t…

Synthesis and stereochemical properties of "extended" biphenols bridged by ortho-, meta-, and para-phenylene spacers

2009

A series of isomeric biphenols based on para- (1), meta- (2), and ortho- (3) terphenyl backbones was synthesized. Suzuki cross-coupling methodology was employed for the construction of the terphenyl backbone of their methyl-protected precursors (respectively 8, 13, and 16). Using K2CO3 as the base, the best reaction conditions involved DMF at 100 °C as solvent. Anhydrous conditions greatly improved the yields of the sterically crowded systems (particularly 16). ortho-Terphenyls 3 and 16 exist as mixtures of syn/anti atropisomers in solution. Compound 16 crystallizes in the anti-in form. DFT calculations at the B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level indicate that for both compounds the anti-in form is mor…
