Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate whether different patterns of workplace attachment exist and to explore the relations between adult attachment styles and the level of workplace attachment. Design/methodology/approach Participants were 351 Italian employees who completed a questionnaire composed of the Workplace Attachment Scale and the Relationship Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using correspondence analysis. Findings The results showed that high scores on workplace attachment correlated significantly with secure attachment style, while low scores correlated with insecure attachment styles. Ca2+ stimulates exocytosis in permeabilized insulin-secreting cells. To investigate the putative cytosolic components involved in the Ca2+ response, HIT-T15 cells (a pancreatic B-cell line) were permeabilized with streptolysin-O, a procedure that allows rapid exchange of soluble components including macromolecules. We found that in this cell preparation the secretory response to Ca2+ but not to guanosine 5'-[gamma-thio]triphosphate was lost as a function of time and could be restored by rat brain cytosol in a concentration-dependent manner. A purity monitoring system for liquid argon calorimeters

Abstract For liquid argon calorimeters electronegative impurities dissolved in the medium degrade the detector response and deteriorate the energy resolution, especially at high energies. A concept for a purity monitoring system for liquid argon calorimeters has been developed and is presented here. Special combined monitors of 241 Am- and 207 Bi-cells are used to monitor the concentration of impurities. The working principle as well as results from test measurements are discussed.

Blood cells express a cell membrane protein, termed homologous restriction factor 20 (HRF20) and identical to CD59, that can inhibit complement C5b-9 insertion into their membranes. In this report, we investigated by immunohistochemistry whether CD59 was present on cells in human atherosclerotic lesions since membranous C5b-9(m) has been found in lesions. Using a monoclonal anti-CD59 antibody, a cellular CD59 staining pattern was apparent in nearly all lesion specimens. Necrotizing periodontitis is characterized by gingival necrosis with bleeding and pain, and alveolar bone attachment loss. The disease is associated to spirochete and Prevotella intermedia infection, as well as to a series of bacterial infections, with an altered local host immune response and tissue destruction. We present the case of a 40-year-old woman with inflammatory vasculitis of the aorta and its main branches, known as Takayasu’s disease.
