Appendicular fracture epidemiology of children and adolescents: a 10-year case review in Western Australia (2005 to 2015)

Fracture incidence data of Australian children and adolescents have not been reported in the literature. A 10-year case review of fracture presentations in Western Australia is provided. Between 2005 and 2015, fracture incidence increased relative to population growth. This is concerning, and interventions are required to reverse this trend. Purpose Fracture incidence in 0–16-year-olds is high and varies between countries. Boys have a 1.5:1 ratio of fracture incidence compared to girls. There are no specific data for Australia. Spore-forming parasites infecting muscles of freshwater fishes : ecology and epidemiology

Fish parasites may potentially harm fisheries and aquaculture. Infected fish are unusable, even though they would not pose a direct risk to human health. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the ecology and epidemiology of three previously unknown or poorly known spore-forming parasites infecting muscles of economically important fish species. The first novel microsporidian species, here described as Microsporidium luciopercae, was found from pike-perch (Sander lucioperca) and European perch (Perca fluviatilis) and formed opaque-looking patches in the muscles. Bakalaura darba tēma ir “Patvēruma meklētāju problemātika: mediju un auditorijas rāmējumu salīdzinājums ziņu portālos “Tvnet.lv” un “Lsm.lv””. Bakalaura darba teorētiskajā daļā aplūkota teorija par reprezentāciju, rāmējuma jēdzienu, jaunajiem medijiem, mediju atbildību, sabiedriskā un komerciālā medija jēdzienu un teorija par auditoriju, auditorijas mediju lietojuma un vajadzību apmierināšanu. Darba pētnieciskajā daļā izmantota kvantitatīvā kontentanalīze un rāmējuma analīze, lai noskaidrotu mediju piedāvātos rāmējumus, bet intervijas metode tika izmantota, lai noskaidrotu auditorijas rāmējumus par patvēruma meklētāju problemātiku.

Checking the identity of students and authorship of their online submissions is a major concern in Higher Education due to the increasing amount of plagiarism and cheating using the Internet. The literature on the effects of e-authentication systems for teaching staff is very limited because it is a novel procedure for them. Suomessa vieraan kielen opiskelu aloitetaan tavallisimmin kolmannella luokalla, ja suurimmalle osalle oppilaista tämä kieli on englanti. Tällöin oppilas alkaa rakentaa kuvaa sekä englannin kielestä että itsestään englannin kielen opiskelijana. Onnistumisen kokemukset ovat tässä vaiheessa tärkeitä, ja yksi tapa niiden mahdollistamiseen on oppilaan oppimistyyliä vastaava opetus. Testing for Lynch Syndrome in Endometrial Carcinoma: From Universal to Age-Selective MLH1 Methylation Analysis

Simple Summary International guidelines recommend universal screening of endometrial carcinoma patients for Lynch syndrome, a hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome. Screening is based on mismatch repair protein immunohistochemistry and reflex MLH1 methylation analysis to exclude the likely sporadic cases of MMR deficiency. As sporadic MLH1 protein loss is common in endometrial carcinoma, the ability to target methylation testing would save efforts and costs.
