Automated procedures based on Market Comparison Approach. A pilot study in the city of Cosenza.
2017
The question about objective valuation is linked on the one hand to the identification of a large number of reliable sale data, on the other hand to the ability to control the critical evaluation protocol. Automating the valuation process, ensured by computerization of real estate data properly detected, provides a concrete answer to the problem of objectivity, allowing a significant control of the subjective component which characterizes the more traditional appraisals. Automatic methods traditionally proposed at international level are often set on multiple regression models, designed to build prediction functions that are valid throughout the study area, calibrating the coefficients on t…
Introducing automated reasoning in network management
2004
This paper proposes the adoption of Artificial Intelligence techniques in the field of network management and moni toring. In order to allow automated reasoning on network ing topics, we constructed an accurate ontological model capable of fitting as more as possible networking concepts. The thoroughly representation of the domain knowledge is used by a Logical Reasoner, which is an expert system ca pable of performing management tasks typically executed by human experts. The Logical Reasoner is integrated in a distributed multi-agent architecture for network manage ment, which exploits the dynamic reasoning capabilities of the Situation Calculus formalism to provide a powerful sys tem capa…
Blood vessels and feature points detection on retinal images
2009
In this paper we present a method for the automatic extraction of blood vessels from retinal images, while capturing points of intersection/overlap and endpoints of the vascular tree. The algorithm performance is evaluated through a comparison with handmade segmented images available on the STARE project database (STructured Analysis of the REtina). The algorithm is performed on the green channel of the RGB triad. The green channel can be used to represent the illumination component. The matched filter is used to enhance vessels w.r.t. the background. The separation between vessels and background is accomplished by a threshold operator based on gaussian probability density function. The len…
Blood Vessel Detection Algorithm for Tissue Engineering and Quantitative Histology.
2021
AbstractImmunohistochemistry for vascular network analysis plays a fundamental role in basic science, translational research and clinical practice. However, identifying vascularization in histological tissue images is time consuming and markedly depends on the operator’s experience. In this study, we present “blood vessel detection—BVD”, an automatic algorithm for quantitative analysis of blood vessels in immunohistochemical images. BVD is based on extraction and analysis of low-level image features and spatial filtering techniques, which do not require a training phase. BVD algorithm performance was comparatively evaluated on histological sections from three different in vivo experiments. …
Learning Path Generation by Domain Ontology Transformation
2005
An approach to automated learning path generation inside a domain ontology supporting a web tutoring system is presented. Even if a terminological ontology definition is needed in real systems to enable reasoning and/or planning techniques, and to take into account the modern learning theories, the task to apply a planner to such an ontology is very hard because the definition of actions along with their preconditions and effects has to take into account the semantics of the relations among concepts, and it results in building an ontology of learning. The proposed methodology is inspired to the Knowledge Space Theory, and proposes some heuristics to transform the original ontology in a weig…
Imputazione e responsabilità delle decisioni automatizzate
2020
The paper deals with the problem of the imputation of the automated decision making of the public administration, with consequent liability. The idea is to use the theory of bodies of the public administration, and the principle of responsability (art. 97 Cost.), and the responsible for the procedure, who has to verify, among other things, the reasonableness of the solution that is reached through the automated procedure, in order to assume responsibility for the final decision.
Automatic differentiation of melanoma from dysplastic nevi.
2015
International audience; Malignant melanoma causes the majority of deaths related to skin cancer. Nevertheless, it is the most treatable one, depending on its early diagnosis. The early prognosis is a challenging task for both clinicians and dermatologist, due to the characteristic similarities of melanoma with other skin lesions such as dysplastic nevi. In the past decades, several computerized lesion analysis algorithms have been proposed by the research community for detection of melanoma. These algorithms mostly focus on differentiating melanoma from benign lesions and few have considered the case of melanoma against dysplastic nevi. In this paper, we consider the most challenging task a…
A method for quantifying atrial fibrillation organization based on wave-morphology similarity
2002
A new method for quantifying the organization of single bipolar electrograms recorded in the human atria during atrial fibrillation (AF) is presented. The algorithm relies on the comparison between pairs of local activation waves (LAWs) to estimate their morphological similarity, and returns a regularity index (/spl rho/) which measures the extent of repetitiveness over time of the detected activations. The database consisted of endocardial data from a multipolar basket catheter during AF and intraatrial recordings during atrial flutter. The index showed maximum regularity (/spl rho/=1) for all atrial flutter episodes and decreased significantly when increasing AF complexity as defined by W…
An Automatic System for the Analysis and Classification of Human Atrial Fibrillation Patterns from Intracardiac Electrograms
2008
This paper presents an automatic system for the analysis and classification of atrial fibrillation (AF) patterns from bipolar intracardiac signals. The system is made up of: 1) a feature- extraction module that defines and extracts a set of measures potentially useful for characterizing AF types on the basis of their degree of organization; 2) a feature-selection module (based on the Jeffries-Matusita distance and a branch and bound search algorithm) identifying the best subset of features for discriminating different AF types; and 3) a support vector machine technique-based classification module that automatically discriminates the AF types according to the Wells' criteria. The automatic s…
Testing a new automated single ring infiltrometer for Beerkan infiltration experiments
2015
International audience; The Beerkan method along with BEST algorithms is an alternative technique to conventional laboratory or field measurements for rapid and low-cost estimation of soil hydraulic properties. The Beerkan method is simple to conduct but requires an operator to repeatedly pour known volumes of water through a ring positioned at the soil surface. A cheap infiltrometer equipped with a data acquisition system was recently designed to automate Beerkan infiltration experiments. In this paper, the current prototype of the automated infiltrometer was tested to validate its applicability to the Beerkan infiltration experiment under several experimental circumstances. In addition, t…
